if we cast an area effect spell, like let's say holy smite, cloud kill and others, would invisible creatures in the area be affected?

Just like shooting someone or placing a bomb:
You can't shoot (non-area) someone when he's hidden, since you can't aim at this person. When you place a bomb or something (area) all people in the area will be affected.

You can run but you can't hide!

lil off topic maybe....

depends: Biblical Motif is 'You can run but you can't hide....don't stop...don't look back' etc.

Boots of Speed: You can hide but you can't run.

Area effects like bombs cloudkill: Can run, can't hide for area effects. Just like in the 'Biblical Motif' (Biblical Motif is translated literally from Dutch, I dont know the English way.)

Yes. Other type of area spells (defensive harmony, chant, etc.) would affect them too.

But if you Hide, the spells could still get you. If you run, they could still get you from far away.

So i suppose they both work!!:hahaerr:

As the topic was about getting caught in area effect spells, maybe it should be 'you can hide but you can't run'. You're already caught in it, so you can't run anymore. As you're invisible, it means you can hide. (Not that it helps, but...)
