I recently downloaded IEES (Infinity Engine Editor Standard) and whenever I try to use it it just comes up with a message saying that there were no games that I had installed that IEES could recognise, although I have BGII-SoA installed!
does it have to be installed in a specific folder or something?

It is possible that you have some registry checker installed and that you haven't installed the SoA patch which solves the possible disappearance of SoA registry entries. In other words, install the patch.
