Okay, I know that you can get the Harper quests but my problem is how? I heared that one way to get into their base is to help Xzar, but I can't find him anywhere. Where is he? I also heared that you can run into a poisoned man who needs help and wants you to take him to the harpers. That should happen when traveling form Athkala to DeArnise Hold. Well, I'm on chapter 2 but on 100and something day of the game and I've finsihed almost all of the side-quests ( just killed Kangaxx ), but the encounter with the guy hasn't happened yet. Can you get the Harper quest on later chapters or does it have to be chapter 2? Please help, I'm fading into desperation... :(

100 days!?

Hmmmm...

Anyway, the poisoned man comes first. When you deliver him only then you can find Xzar (in Docx, of course) and then come into Harpers' hold. And why that didn't happen to you, I haven't a clue. Maybe you need to have Jaheira in the party. If you kicked her out, get her back.

Also, the poisoned man will be in a random encounter, no matter from wich area or to what area you're travelling thru world map.

Edit: How the hell you found this place (see my profile ;) )?

Sorry about that, Blackthorne. I was to lazy to read the Faq before I did any posts. Won't happen again...

Random Encounter you're asking for (poisoned Renfeld) is possible to get in 3rd chapter, too. But not later in the game. And no, it doesn't depend if Jaheira or anyone specific is in the party - it is random as it says.

But, before you get that particular random encounter, you must pass the encounter with bouny hunter party (leader is female - former Valygar's love). From that encounter you get Arbane's Sword +2.

Anyway, I suggest that you try to move between areas a few times... Maybe it triggers it.

Thank you, fellow countryman. I don't think I had the encounter with the Valygar's lady. Where should it happen? Is it between the areas of Athkala or between Athkala and some other land area? As far as I know you have 2 encounters which can trigger the harpers:
SPOILERS
1. A man attacked by a group of bandits ( a random encounter when travelling between areas in Athkala ). That guy wants you to take his body to the bloke who is standing in front of the Harper Hold.
2. A poisoned noble which you encounter when travelling between Athkala and other areas. He wants you to take him to the Harper Hold.
So, when one of these things happen, you get the entrance right to for the Harper Hold, which means that Xzar will become avaliable. I tried travelling, though I just made a circle run from the city to all the areas. Maybe I should try that to the extreme. But, I also used Shadow Keeper to dump the body od Renfield ( who is the guy who gets attacked and wants you to take him to the man standing infront of the Harper HQ. ) in my inventory. Then I started the game and tried talking to the so-much-mentioned-before-man-standing-infront-of-the-HarperHQ-whatshisname, but NOTHING happened. I got the standard dialogue with the guy, the one "May I look inside, What's this and so on". Is there any way to trigger the encounters by using Shadow Keeper? Please, help.....................................

ARGH!

Don't mention ShadowKeeper in the thread if you want an answer from me - I started to ignore the threads with that util mentioned inside. But since we live in the same country, I'll forget about it but only this time.

Ok, you delivered the body. Now you need to move a bit NE from Harpers' hold - you'll finally see Xzar. He stands near that underground Inn on the Docks. Talk to him, then talk again to the man in front of Harper's Hold - the one you gave the body to.

And finally, random encounters trigger no matter if you travel between areas in Athkatla or out of it. But why this doesn't work in your game I can't understand.

You misunderstood me. I didn't manage to give the body to the guy ( his name is Rylock ). He didn't react to me carying the body in my inventory, I just got the normal dialogue which goes like "What is this, Can I take a look...etc."
But, I checked my stash and it seems that I have the Arbane's Sword +2, so I had the encounter with Valygar's lady. The thing I would like you to do is describe how the encounters go, is the encounter with the bandits and the lady the same as the one where you get the body or not? I think that I may had gotten the body but didn't use it. I can't remember exactly, because I've been playing the game for about 6 months or so ( I tend to get separated from my computer ). Sorry I have to mention it, but I think that Shadow Keeper is my only chance. I had the body, but the guy didn't react. Maybe I need to change some of the global variables in the SK. Is that possible? Again I must plea for help. Don't make me miss out the harper quest experience and Elminster at the end ( pretty please ).
And yes, I won't be able to reply any of your potential answers, because I'm going away for awhile... :(

Ok, if you can do this with that lame util, then this will work:
SetGlobalTimer("RenfeldDeath","GLOBAL",TEN_DAYS)

Also check the code of the body - it should be MISC5F. Of course if you can do it from that util. If not, then the body should be named as "Renfeld's Body".

And no, Arbane's Sword you don't get from the same encounter as the body.

Finally, if all of that fails, then you should create Xzar from the Console (creature code is "XZAR").
