Currently I'm playing through SoA with my Multi Classed Fighter Theif (imported from BG1)

My party consists of the fighter/theif, Edwin, and Viconia.

I just wanted to see if anyone had any opinions or good advice that might help me

Korgan: you need a tank. Past that, it sounds like a good evil party.

Yeah, Fel's right, you need a tank. And it looks as if your party is of the evil sort, so Korgan would be the best. When you [snip], but untill then, Korgan will be fine. After this your party would look ok, but you still have 2 spaces left. Unless you really want some quick XP, you might as well fill up those spaces. Yoshimo or Jan can be used to fill up some extra thief skill space and then Imoen can later be swapped to gain some extra fire-power. Then it's really up to you, you could add in Jaheria if you wanted for another fighter and some druid skills, or maybe Haer'Dalis for a Bard, not that he's any good.

But after you add Korgan your party will be fine.

Yes it will be pretty decent if you add Korgan. A heavy mage, a drow cleric, a furious dwarf berseker, and a cunning fighter/thief. You can add a [snip] later and it will be perfect!

You can finish the game with less than 6 people, you get better XP and less micro-management. Try it!

If it were me, I'd get another tank. It looks like you want a 3 person party and you've got all you need with Viccy, Edwin and PC F/T. I would get that magic casting license asap, if you haven't already, so Edwin can at least cast Stoneskin on himself.

You could also dish Edwin for Jan. This way you can spilt the thief skills between him and yourself. You will, obviously, specialize in hide so you can backstab with your fighter/thief; specialize Jan in trap setting, trap finding and disabling. I personally like to go around it this way.

Your 3 character party can beat the game, so there is no need to pick up anyone else if you don't want to.
Korgan would fit in best regarding power (and gameplay), but you can afford to ignore power in favor of sympathy when choosing.
You can't do his quest without him, so you might want to pick him up and decide if you want to keep him after finishing it.

If you haven't done Edwin's scroll searching quest below the graveyard yet, than do it now and let him use the scroll for himself (DO NOT say it's party treasure !!!).

Jan and Anomen also have special quests which are triggered some time after you have picked them up for the first time, so if you take them, dismiss them and pick them up again some days later their quests will start as soon as you leave the area you picked them up again (and again).
This might also work for Jaheira,Nalia and others.
You need Valgyar for entering the sphere (and earning many items and XP).

When you cast (limited) wish, have Viconia talk before low-wis Edwin is adressed.

Using the level 2 strength spell twice in a row will yield 18/00 strength for anyone, cast it on Viconia unless she's wearing the 19 str girdle from Ribald.
The quarterstaff +4 from Ribald is great for your fighter/thief, since some monsters require +4 weapons (and others require blunt weapons) to take damage.

Protection from evil 10" is one of the most useful spells.

I would suggest not dishing Edwin. He is a potent spell caster and just him alone will get you out of some jams. Particularly with the number of protection removal spells you can pile him with later in the game.

As others have said consider picking up Korgan for a second tank could help quite a bit to split the load of enemy melee fighters.

@kuemper: I made sure i got the magic casting licence asap.

and how/when does edwin's quest start?

one last question - Does Korgan have a quest?

Korgan's quest pairs nicely with Edwin's. Both are started under the graveyard district (go down there, root around). Not much xp in Korgan's quest and not really that much gold either.

Let Edwin have the scroll, encourage his evaluation of it. Take Edwin to the Coppor Coronet after he unleashes the power of the scroll (add various members to your party for added fun: Anomen, Minsc, Nalia, and Jaheira are particularly good).

Edwin's quest starts whenever you first enter the Graveyard. He'll mention the Nether scroll.

So I added Korgan to my group but now I'm tryin to decide on something for both my main F/T and Korgan... should I do two weapon style or 1 weap. and a sheild?

I would put your F/T with 2 weapons and Korgan on 1 weapon and a shield, until you get enough points in 2 wep. fighting for him.

you might consider Korgan going with two handed weapon and dots in Halberd. There is a really nice Halberd in the Underdark that is +4 I believe.

You don't need a tank unless your playing style requires it -- especially with Edwin who can summon all the muscle you need in a fight. He can also take the front line himself with a few stoneskins and mirror images in his arsenal.

@silverstar: If the last one on your list is the one I think you mean, that comment's in the wrong forum.

And don't forget Tenser's Transformation!
Casting Stoneskin, Blur, Mirror Image, and Haste on Edwin, the following by Tenser, practically turns him into a tank.

I'd add Korgan and then Mazzy for some great banter!
