I have a friend who is new at this game, but with beginner's luck, he seems to have uncovered a hidden treasure cache in the game.

He tells me he pickpocketed a genie (doesn't remember which one - either the one in Kalah's tent or in Irenicus' dungeon) that had the Root of the Problem. He's not making this up because he has had no experience with the game and as final proof that he's new, he sold it thinking it was just a fancy-looking branch.

Did anyone else ever encounter this or try it? I thought there was only one RotP in the game...

There is only one unless you've installed mods that will make it obtainable outside stronghold quests.

Ok, I'm ignorant. What is it that you are talking about? What is the Root of the Problem? What is it for? What does it do?

It's a club, surprisingly made from a root.
And err... you hit things with it.

He goes to all the trouble to pickpocket one of those fast talking/fast disappearing genies and he doesn't write down which one when he finds a magical item?

Not even the dungeon?
