I finish SoA in one week with my solo Sorceress at level 26. It was my fifth experience with SoA (first solo)and it was the easiest way I made it. Here's my final spell choice after reading your opinion.

1: Chromatic Orb,
spook, (I forget to use it)
identify,
missile,
protection from petrification.

2: aganazaar's scorcher,
knock,
mirror image,
resist fear,
Melf's acid arrow.

3: Flame arrow,
remove magic,
protection from normal missile,
Slow,
Skull trap. (bye bye fireball)

4: Stone skin,
improved invisibility,
fire shield,
wizard eye,
greater malison.

5: Animated dead,
cloud kill,
breach,
sun fire. (a must for solo) CHEESY

6: death spell,
protection from magic energy
True sight,
mislead.

7: Finger of death, (useful when often reload)
project image,
warding whip
mordenkainen sword.

8: horrid wilting
incendiary cloud,
pierce shield,
spell trigger.

9: time stop,
chain contingency,
comet, (wow)
dragon's breath,
energy blade,
shapechange, (wow)
summon planetar. (wow)
