in the tower how do you put the mallet togther and how do you put the machine switch togher on the machine?

You need the mallet head and handle. Both can be found somewhere in the tower.
For more details I suggest you check some of the walkthroughs on the site. This is too detailed for me to remember the exact locations.

i have both but do not know how to put them toghter. and where are the walkthroughs

How did you get to these forums? The usual way is through the site the forums are but a part of.
You assemble all pieces at the smithy (anvil room).

ive been to the anvil room. but when i try to use the anvil it just says its for repairing items. can you please be more specific.

You need to have both the mallet head and the handle in the same inventory. Then click on the anvil and that should be okay.

Then go to the gong and smack it.
