View Full Version : How can I listen to songs from BG 2? lazydrizzt Fri, 11th May '01, 11:47am Can listen song in BG2 disc(no soundtrack disc) thanx Headbanger Fri, 11th May '01, 12:23pm In most cases the writers use a format that you can't just play in windows with your media player. However I suppose you might find the songs somewhere on the internet (don't ask me where exactly) This was something good about Warcraft 2, the game had great music and you could just listen it by putting the WC2 cd in your cd-player... But that's impossible when you have a game with more then one cd and it uses lots of space. Grovflab Fri, 11th May '01, 1:33pm The reason is that in good old times games where using redbook audio, which meant that the music was infact cd music. This was the easiest method of the time. Now a days, the music is compromised so that it takes up less space. (Things like mp3!) This also gives the programmers more flexibility when making the game. I remember reading, that the fight with the shadow dragon is actually compromised of five different pieces of music, which then changed depending on whats happening during the fight. If I remember correctly, there is a file here on Sorcerer's, which lets you convert these soundfiles to wav-format. I think this is made for bg1, but it might work with bg2 as well! Slappy Fri, 11th May '01, 2:19pm Yes there is a program to convert the files used for music in all infinity engine games BG, BG2, IWD, PT, etc. Funnily enough I have just posted details on a similar them in the PT forum: "If you go to the BG1 Miscellanea site you can also download a program called ACMtoWAV. This program lets you convert the ACM sound files in the game to WAV files that can be used by most sound programs and windows." http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index_misc.htm PS. If you like this type of music, there is an Icewind Dale music CD that you can get (the music is even better than in BG2). For details have a look at this post: http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000552.html [This message has been edited by Slappy (edited May 11, 2001).] |
