Where did a merchant store his goods? In the Drow City, they become hostile during the trade menu, and after fight I found only regular stuff, for a warrior or something.
It's the same problem if you atack a merchant: you'll never be able to take the stuff. It's not quite Role Playing ...

Well, wouldn't be it a little bit easy if you could just take a defenseless merchant and take all his spiffy items he sales. Not all merchants are like Ribald, hard to kill, some merchants (like the fat ones) die in one hit and if you could take there expensive wares, it just wouldn't be any fun.

Brother, that IS role playing.

You have the option to steal from them if using a thief - would it be against role playing that other classes act as a thief?

Besides, imagine that merchants don't display the goods in front of you - they only ask you if you'll buy items according descriptions and if you accept, they just bring them from their secret treasury. And your problem is why you can't find out where that secret chamber is.

The drow became hostile during you were trading .... not by chance when you were leaving Ust-Natha after finishing the final quest there?
Shoplifting is a great way to equip your party well - cheap & fast. One time I went into my first fight with my party having filed plates and no weapon worse than +2. Really helpful. You just need a nice thief ... and one or two potions of masterthievery to play safe - with 150 points in pickpockets you are usually sucessfull.

I miss Fallout... Walk into a shop and if the prizes are too high, just blow the shopkeepers brains out, then take what you want :p

Fallout was not the game with classes. You could improve any skill. :p

yes, great games.. Fallout Tactics is coming out these days, sort of Fallout, but only the combat parts, which I hated to tell you the truth... but I think it got ok reviews.

FALLOUT TACTICS is pure trash.. sorry if Im going a little off topic.. as you can see.. another group developed it.. the battle interface is better but the story and quests part is almost as hollow as their creator's brains...

as for the merchants... its more like... they're traders.. and if you pay them.. they arrange to get it for you from suppliers they know or from their own supplies... besides.. it would be kinda impossible to display all the armour you're selling in that tiny stall you own right?

But you can't even loot the shelves from the shops :(

And no, I won't buy Fallout Tactics. I liked the combat in Fallout, but not so much I'd want a game purely based on that. Always enjoyed the story... And exploring... Anyone remeber Sierra Army Base in F2, now that was something! :p
