I've just started playing this game, but before long, I came across this peculiar problem: the game ALWAYS closes and dumps me back in Windows when I exit the Mortuary - it happens right after the "Loading..." screen.

I will really appreciate any help that comes!

PS I'm playing the patched-up (1.1) version of Torment.

It may be a bad CD... Sounds like it's crashing as it's trying to access a particular file from the CD.

I have a similar problem which occurs when I try to get back to Sigil from Carceri. I think it's because my Cd is scratched like an incompetent bass relief though.

Dang, blast and drat! I tried the start and I can't get out the mortuary either. I'll have to steal a new CD from a mate.

Yes, it must be CD. Try to copy complete CD2 on HD just to check.

ok, I think the reason that this happens so much with torment is the case it comes in. if you leave the cd in the case for too long the wax from the paper leaves a mark on your CD. if you try to clean it for long enough you might be able to fix it, I havnt been able to so far

YAY!! Ive found the reason that the error stays after you fix whatever it was that was causing it! the cache file for the area that causes the problem stays broken unless you delete it and the program creates a new one. Finally I can play again!!
