Eyes in the sky

Each time I think that I'm almost finished with the sadness painting it changes.
Presently it is a large creature with an orange hell background. Hell being part of the theme of sadness as a sin.
A couple of days ago I incorporated text into the piece. This morning I added some more text and then later decided that I wanted to get rid of it. So when I started painting this evening I did nothing I had planned to do. I swear the hand has a mind of its own or at least a direct nerve to the little subconscious nook that makes the images.
I kept the text. From the beginning of the painting I had always felt that the image of the eye was a little too iconic. I took sandpaper to that area fairly early so that the layers of paint are worn away. Strangely considering how I felt about the eye image being too strong, I started painting eyes all through the orange background. Not piercing eyes, more symbolic eyes. Now the design element is becoming important and I can tell that I'm far from finished.
