Kitchen Madness #6 - Plate Advice?

Posted Mon, 11th Apr '11 at 8:22am by Rotku (The Rambling Rotku)

Got a pot-luck dinner to go to this Friday, to celebrate the appointment of a new principal at the school I'm at. Need to think of a meal to bring to the dinner and I'm looking for any suggestions that people have.

Ideally, a meal needs to be able to either be cooked in 24 hours to 8 hours or under 1 hour. It can either be dessert, salad or a mains-type dish, which can be served in small proportions or big (you know the type of meal).

My current thought is a chilli...

Kitchen Madness #4 - Simple Beef Casserole

Posted Sat, 5th Mar '11 at 6:23am by Rotku (The Rambling Rotku)

It's one of those nights when I get home from work, find out I took the wrong meat out of the freezer last night and can't be bothered thinking up something creative. Everyone has those nights occasionally, and I'm sure we always have one of those recipes we always like to fall back on. You know the one - nice and simple, yet always tastes great. Well this is mine. I stumbled across it on the web years ago and fell in love instantly. With a few small modifications of my own, I present to you...

Kitchen Madness #3 - 8people's chilli

Posted Sun, 27th Feb '11 at 3:00am by Rotku (The Rambling Rotku)

So, after posting my last pathetic attempt at a chilli, 8people supplied me with a recipe that her Mum uses. I gave it a try last night.

Rotku's Kitchen Madness #2

Posted Tue, 15th Feb '11 at 11:41pm by Rotku (The Rambling Rotku)

Was surfing the web a couple of a weeks ago and stumbled across a mention of "Obama's favourite chili recipe" (well, I guess it was favorite rather than favourite, but it just feels wrong writing it that way), so had to go and give that a try at some stage, for a bit of a laugh. Quick google found the answer. Nothing nicer than having the smell of chili wafting through the house. Only problem is Lizzie (one of my flat mates and girlfriend) doesn't like strong chili, so may make a smaller...

Rotku's Kitchen Madness #1

Posted Sat, 12th Feb '11 at 7:09pm by Rotku (The Rambling Rotku)

Okay, my turn to cook tonight. Living in a flat with four others, one of who refuses to cook (so therefore doesn't eat), so I tend to cook twice a week. Anyway, tonight I'm feeling particularly lazy, so something easy is called for. Unfortunately one of our flat mates is particularly fussy eater, so it does limit me some. As it's the end of the week, the house is rather bare of food, so going to have to make do with what I have.

Cleaning out the freezer yesterday I found some...
