Sci-fi spoofs: an underrated art form?

Posted Mon, 2nd Nov '09 at 5:33pm by Caradhras

Or is it? How does one define art and more precisely how does one define form? Is form bound to shape or is it intrinsically different from an ontological perspective?

1. Neopatriarchial objectivism and cinematical conceptualism as seen in G.O.R.A. (2004)

This cinematic narrative relates to the archetypal struggle of the individual vs society as a whole. Here the aforementioned individual...

Disco Inferno

Posted Thu, 22nd Oct '09 at 5:47pm by Caradhras

I've been listening to old disco music and it leaves me with a real sadness when I think about it. Don't get me wrong, it's great fun and any party gets rolling once you get these good old songs to play.

Still, I wish I had been around in the 70s instead of being a toddler...

I really feel that my generation was late for the party and missed all the fun. All we had was techno ***** and dance crap. At least disco was fun.

All that is left for us to do...

In the Name of the King...

Posted Tue, 1st Sep '09 at 12:43am by Caradhras

Just watched In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale I expected a load of crap but it turned out to be quite entertaining and if some parts were contrived (and not very original), I nevertheless really enjoyed most of the movie.

The cast is just incredible: Jason Statham (that guy rocks), John Rhys-Davies (not a dwarf), Ron Perlman (fantastic actor), Ray Liotta (not ridiculous which is a feat given his part in the movie), Burt Reynolds (nice surprise!) ... Leelee Sobieski (incredibly...

Posted Sat, 29th Nov '08 at 4:27pm by Caradhras

I used to think I was a hardcore Fallout fan. Not anymore. It's not the fact that I've played the demo back in 97 and that I bought both Fallout 1 and 2 when they first got out at a time when I was a student and I was almost continuously broke and buying them was a big dent on my budget.

I've been playing those game for years. At first I remember being slightly annoyed by Falllout 2 mainly for the bugs (unpatched Fallout 2 was really filled with game breaking bugs) and then for the...

Live Free or Die Hard.

Posted Wed, 15th Oct '08 at 3:01pm by Caradhras

I didn't have so much fun in a long time. The action is completely ridiculous and over the top but even if it is not better than the first (it couldn't be) it is a worthy addition to the series (3 was just bloody awful).

Nobody is cooler than John McClane when it comes to take down the bad guys. Watching this I remembered when I first watched Die Hard some twenty years ago, it felt like being a kid on Christmas day again.

Plus being French I kinda like when the henchmen...
