Q: Do you spend more time playing computer games online (Internet) or offline (single-player, LAN, etc.)?
(367 votes total)

Offline (279) 76%
Online and offline equally (45) 12%
Online (43) 12%

Surprise, surprise, the overwhelming majority of us (76%) spend more time playing computer games offline than online.

The remaining 24% of the votes are split evenly between those who spend an equal amount of time playing computer games online and offline, as well as those who spend more time playing them online.

Restart Syndrome

I hate myself, seriously I do. I have this issue with restarting RPG games over and over, but I never get further than level 10ish most of the time. It took me almost 3 months before I finally buckled down and took one character through NWN and NWN2 games. Once I decided on the character it was easier.

This game however is so good I just enjoy replaying the Harrowing and becoming a Grey Warden. I love it... I'm on my 10th play through now. What I find is that I restart if I missed something that I cannot replay (as I forget to save - stupid me). Or I just end up not liking the character I developed and start over. At the same time I know I get to replay the beginning again as I enjoy it. Silly I know, but I like it.

I'm really hoping I can stick with the character I created last night and actually finish the Mage Origin. Here is to hoping.

My character is a mage with the Coersion Skill and the frost and eletrical single attacks. My 5 attribute points rasied Magic and Willpower to 19. From there, the 3 skill points per a level up will be distrubted as 2 Magic, 1 Will and the next level would be 1 magic and 2 Will. My focus on spells will be the cold, eletrical, fire, defensive spells, and the spell ability to increase my spirit /spell attacks (the main one for mages). The specialization I plan to take is Blood Mage and Spirit Healer, though I"m not sure which one to take first.

For those of you who have played the game with a mage, what do you think of my character. Should I place the third attribute point per a level up on another attribute other than magic/will? Should I go with spells that impact other mages? Thoughts, comments, recommendations.....

Hi there.been a long time since i played it, and decided to give this a go again, but i can't recall/don't know some things, so here are my doubts:

For some of my party members i am planning on picking Maximized attack feat , and for casters feats like Aegis Rime, etc(those that give 5 res to an element and 20% extra dmg). But maximized attack requires 4 in concentration skill and the other needs 10 in spellcraft, and since skills are also affected by stats;for example for a fighter/barbarian with 20 constitution gets +5 modifier and since this affects concentration, do i need to ACTUALLY spend 4 points in said skill to able to pick the feat? Same for spellcraft...if my sorceress has 12 intel then to i need so spend 10 or is 9 enough because of the +1 modifier? Do modifiers, when negative (like 3 intel), means i will have to spend more than 10 points to meet the requirements? And finally, if i have a wizard who is maxing spellcraft on the party, is there any benefit for the sorcerer to have more spellcraft than the requirement needed?

Thanks for any replies.

IEEI saving problem (no other programs open)

Hello all, I'm having some trouble with IEEI. It will not let me save any newly created items. I receive an error referencing "Path/File access error at Dialog_Write.12."

I've searched for help with this issue, and every solution I've found pinpoints the problem as additional open programs that access the Dialog.tlk file. This is not the case for me. I have shut down every program except IEEI, and this continues to occur. I've restarted the computer and run only IEEI; same thing. I've tried different save paths, different item names, re-installing and running IEEI from different locations, etc. Nothing helps.

I'm not very knowledgeable about these things. All I'm looking to do is re-introduce into SoA some of the personal letters and scrolls collected by the PC in BG1. (Yes, it's neurotic, but that's me.) I'd also like to create a few interesting items down the road. To that end, I've been making some very basic forays into item creation, just to get my feet wet and understand the process, but this problem crops up every time.

What might be causing this issue? Besides the "competing programs" thing, that is? I'm running Vista x64, if that's important.

Thanks all.

I don't care how wild the kid is, Tasing a Ten yr old girl is not necessary. If you're an adult and in the law enforcement profession, Tasing a kid is never necessary. Never, ever, ever necessary. Never infinity!
And he is only receiving the suspension for not video taping it. What?! Not for using it on a little girl. WTF?

I just read this article by a Canadian columnist and I think what he has to say is reasonable, though not politically correct. I particularly liked this line

I'm a long date fan of the BG series and I'm playing PS:T for the first time... first of all I have to say HOLY ****, THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME! I'm really surprised at the quality of this game!

From now on, spoilers.

So... I took a long time before I added any NPCs to the party besides Morte, simply because I didn't find them. When I found Dak'kon I was already at level 7, and he came at level 3/3 so I think he's supposed to be found in the beggining.

Now I have TNO, Morte, Annah and Dak'kon, and I'll get Fall from Grace. The thing is... while a great part of the fun is the fact that I didn't know anything about the story, quests, etc (while in BG I just can't be surprised anymore), I did found out one spoiler beforehand: the fact you find Vhailor in a prison somewhere and if you have 5 NPCs by them you have to give up on one of them forever.

So my doubt is more about the opinion of other players. Story and roleplay wise, which NPCs are worth having? Should I get Fall from Grace or Ignus? Or both, and give up on Vhailor? I'm inclined not to get Ignus, since I'm playing TNO as a mage, but then again, so far he seems promising, with what Drusilla told me and all.

Damn, I wish I could have more than 5 NPCs :(

Well, what do you think?

EDIT: Erm, also... what's this about factions? What can be gained by joining one?

I've just started seeing this girl who has a hard time understanding movies in English so I have to start downloading subtitles in Mandarin.

I did a search and this link came up top:

http://www.divxtitles.com/allmovies/Mandarin/any/1

I just wanted to ask if these divx subtitles will work for any movie file that will run with VLC? Also, for the benefit of the computard (myself), how do they work? Do I just download the file then copy the folder into the folder with the movie and then automatically i have a "subtitle option"?

Thanks in advance for the help.
