    On the subject of horseshoe crabs, if these are the same critters that used to wash up on the beaches of Long Island (where I grew up), then they are not really crabs at all, but, IIRC, some distant counsin of a spider. We used to call them living fossils because, again IIRC, they haven't really changed for half a billion years. Neat anyway.

    Ok either I've got very good ears or I'm going crazy; I'm hearing a strident high pitch noise that resemble a radio that is tuned to a wrong channel coming from my computer all the freakin' time. Thing is I'm the only one that can actually hear it. Nobody else that have tried to listen to it said that I was imagining sound. But, I'm not I can really hear that damnable noise! It's giving me a killer headaches.

    I'm not crazy I can hear it damnit! I think I ought to see a doctor about it.

    [​IMG] I have a very sensitive sound range, can hear monitors, televisions, most appliances when they are on. On a good day I can stand in the front doorway of my parents house and hear if they left the TV on standby or if the woman at the end of the road has her cat alarm turned on. On an exceptional day I can hear the weird little noise mobiles make when they're recieving a text, I don't mean the interference they make with other speakers either. That really is JUST on the edge of my range though and it has to be a good day for me to even pick up on it.

    Speaking of weird noises, my friends hated my TDMA phone because of the humongous interference it played with pretty much everything. Think of an electrical buzz, now multiply it by a factor of 100. Yep, so when I got a call while in a party, it was hearing apocalypse. But considering how inexpensive it was...

    :lol: That is so true sometimes. Kind of a letdown when you're looking forward to a change of gem and realize that it's a little plain and you are going to have to wait a heck of a long time for the change to come.

    @8 - What is a cat alarm? Is the woman afraid of being invaded by cats?

    @Silver - Thanks for the affectionate statement but I'm thinking you're wine might be clouding your judgment. *ducks behind a bush* ... Your not going to start stalking me are you? :p

    Ofelix: Is it coming from your monitor or computer?

    It could be your power supply aging if it's a cheap one if it's coming from the computer.

    If it's coming from the monitor, nothing you can do. I suggest some music.

    I freak out all the kids at the mall when i hear the mosquito or bumblebee ringtones on their cellphones go off, being an over-the-hill adult in their eyes.

    The better half knows if she wants to drive me crazy when i'm upstairs just go turn the exhaust fan on in the basement bathroom.
    I swear that thing has a whine that will just cut straight through your head!! Drives me bonkers.:nuts:

    Nah I'm positive it's from the computer itself, I've turn on the monitor without the computer and it doesn't do any weird sound. I thought it might be the power supply, I've got the same one since '06.

    I'm using the laptop right now, can't stand the noise anymore, I tried drowning the sound with music but I can still hear it.

    My roommate and his friend decided to drink on a Monday night... so instead of getting to go to bed at 11.30, I had to go to bed at 4.00 am because they were making so much noise (I ended up sleeping on the floor in someone else's room, too). Yay for 4 hours of sleep instead of almost 9.
