So, this has been up on the main page for a little while now, and it's bugged me every time I've seen it:

Hardcore RPG fans as a target group for sports games and sports betting? Are they serious? I'd think it was a joke except that the ad is actually for online betting.

Now I know everyone here is different, and I'm sure there are a number of you that are sports fans, maybe even a few that like games like Madden and/or betting on games, but I'd think it's a much smaller group than, oh, a car site, a sports site, or probably about 90% of the rest of the pages online (porn included).

Anyone else see it as somewhat ridiculous?

Statistical correlation? Like what, that 90% of all sports games are sold on video game websites?

It's more of an ad for search engines than humans, that's the trend these days. In the past years the donations have covered a part of our bill so we could afford not to display this kind of advertising, but the last year has been catastrophic as the donations have pretty much completely stopped coming in, so they're not an income I can rely on to help with the bills any more. It's sad because the SPS accounts are really cheap (less than 3 bucks a month buys you what, 1 or 2 lattes at best?) and I do feel that they're good value for the money, but unfortunately very few of our visitors are willing to support the site with any kind of donations. Heck, most people aren't very willing to support the site even via any of the free means that are available, like buying via our affiliated links, but that's another story...

Err, no... certain advertisers put more value on the links to their sites as seen by search engines. So it's all for the benefit of that one advertiser.

hum, I haven't seen that ad. The ad that makes me laugh is the diet one. ''1 sexy stomach rule : Obey'' and then the picture of someone grabbing their belly fat... not a pretty sight... Do they assume that because we like RPGs, we're fat?

Those damn Evony ads are getting me in trouble at work!

I don't mind scantly clad women scrolling across the bottom of my screen, but the old shrew I work with has taken offense...

I can only check the BoM when she's on break now.

I tried logging to the SPS form on the main page, but for some reason, it doesn't function on my work PC.
