He is 15.5 and pretty mature for his age and yes you are a fuddy duddy. It would probably be more uncomfortable if I tried to ban him from the living room while I watched. Even if I did between "on demand", The HBO GO iPad app, and reruns I don't know if I could stop him if I wanted to.

Watched the season finale and I must say that it great that we finally get a proper fantasy show. A respectful adaptation of good books and it seems to be succesful as well. Hope they manage to keep up the good work.

I too think that the Finale was great.
I cannot remember the last time I was so anxious watching a Show.

I hope there will be more seasons and equally good written!

I imagine it depends both on how well each season does in the ratings and how much of a story there is to tell.

Martin hasn't finished the series yet right? And I know I've seen another novel by him (not in the series) out recently.

I would imagine that HBO will stick to the same formula they've done with the Southern Vampire books (aka True Blood) and base each season off of a single book in the series. So however many books in the series, that's how many seasons we'll get. In both cases, the author of the series isn't quite finished yet, so there's potential for 1-2 more seasons than novels that currently exist in each series.

That said - I haven't read A Song of Ice and Fire (yet), so I don't know if the book ends on the denoument the season did last night, or if there's more to the first book that they're push off to season 2 (or if we're already well into book 2). But it's my understanding that this season ended where the first book did.

Season 2 is in the works already and the plan is to base each season on each book. The books might prove too long though and if the show is sufficently succesful they might spend two seasons on one book. The books are not done, the latest is around a decade overdue but it appears like Martin has broken his writer's block and it will be published in a month or so. I hope he can wrap things up as well.

If it'll take 10 or more years from now for him to get to the last book I kinda doubt that the same cast could still be used for those seasons... in which case I can't imagine how they could wrap things up in a decent way.

I'd like to think that the TV series bringing his vision to life (and the new legions of fans he's amassed as a result) have reignited his creative spark. Seems to be the case, anyway. He's about finished with one, and I think he could crank out at least one more volume in the next 6 years. Maybe two more. We'll see.

They were quite good about ending the series where the first book ended, with Danaerys buck naked and holding her vicious little dragons. She looked good all dirty, sooty, and naked. Totally made my day.

Now the wait is on for the next book (short wait) and the next season (helluva long wait.)
