This was a cause of many a debate many years ago with my D&D group.
Say the party encounters a lich, defeats it, but fails to find the it's phylactery. Then they encounter it again looking for revenge, and again defeat it. And they encounter it a third time. In exasperation, one of the party members asks "Why won't you stay _____?!?" What is the correct word here? Normally "dead" would be the correct word, but the lich is already dead. Would it be "destroyed", "vanquished"? I'm not sure. Those were the most popular choices with my group, but I'm wondering what the proper word would be? |

Dead is still applicable
As the lich is UNdead when attacking them ![]() Destroyed, defeated, away, fabulous, vanquished, conquered, dessicated, decapitated, dismantled, no more, with the choir invisible, pushing up daisies All acceptable alternatives. |
