Thank God they caught this SOB. Between this and the Eaton Centre shooting on the weekend, everybody at work has been terrified to step outside lest they be abducted and dismembered or simply shot.
I have to say, when they first announced the arrest I was wondering if it was actually him, or just someone he paid off to take the fall. Given the way he's acted so far I wouldn't have put it past him. For the latest on this story, it looks like he may have also mailed some body parts to some schools in Vancouver, story here |

Yeah, followed this particular report.
It almost reads like on of those sick Thriller Novels by Thomas Harris. That guy was practically halfway over the globe, before they got him. Sick ain't a strong enough word for him. |

Words fail me. Whoever did the dismembering and mailing of body parts is vile beyond words. The evidence so far against Magnotta is pretty compelling, and I hope no slimy lawyer gets it suppressed. Once again, I believe this guy should be executed, but that won't happen. Like Vince Li before him, he'll be in the hospital a few years, and then he'll be all better and taking escorted walks around the town. He'll be out and about in under 10 years, mark my words.
Justice my big, hairy, white butt! |

Not sure what you mean. The connection to Homolka is odd, and it demonstrates he is likely a vile human. I'm not sure if it's a valid connection.
In any event, he's likely a killer and a deviant. He needs to be punished. |

I was referring to your love of 'justice' in the form of ten year sentences ... apparently this Homolka gal raped and murdered three girls (including her sister) and served 12 years? Seems an odd bargain for a serial killer.

Oh, I see, I assumed you knew her story. She was the wife of Paul Bernardo, who allegedly masterminded the rapes and murders. When it looked like the police were closing in, she grabbed herself a lawyer and cut a deal to testify against her hubby and save her own skin.
Then the videotapes she and Bernardo had made surfaced (I don't know if she turned them over or if they were found by police) but in any event the tapes looked as though she were a willing and active participant in the crimes rather than just a poor wife under the influence of a sick husband. But the deal had already been struck, so she spent some pretty easy time in Club Fed (pictures were released of her partying with her lesbian lover in jail) and now has been released. She left Canada, IIRC, though I can't imagine why another country would allow her entry. The whole deal pissed off the entire country. She played the system like a flute. The only good thing to come of it was that Bernardo himself was locked away for good. I don't think he's ever getting out. |

This country has certainly produced some sick ****s, that's for sure. They'll be hard pressed to find a jury on this one, I can't imagine there's anyone out there who hasn't heard of the case by now. Plus if it was a jury of his actual peers they'd have to get 12 psychopaths out of a mental hospital for the duration of the trial. |

Actually, Karla did her own bit of torturing and raping as well (as much as a woman can, anyway). Orally, etc. They both filmed their raping marathons naked and exchanged cameras depending on who was doing the raping at the time. I've been reading about Karla (and here) since her name came up here and I'm still having a hard time believing that any Western country could let such a psychopath go and have such a criminally broken justice system as Canada (in terms of ridiculously low sentences, which certainly have 0 preventative effect, anyway). I totally get LKD's constant raving about it now.
Homolka is not only free now, but married and a happy mother of a child with her new husband. Apparently, they're living somewhere in the Antilles now. It's like something out the most perverted horror flick scenario ever. She gave her own underage sister's virginity to her lover for Christmas (her own words) while she drugged her and held her down (and eventually killed her). I can't imagine what such a psycho has in store for her own kid. To date I believed that our justice system is horrible - but I honestly don't believe that a travesty of the magnitude of letting Homolka go could happen here. Quote:
Oh, and apparently her parents are quite supportive of her. But I guess that's not very surprising - it's probably only human to not want to accept the fact that your child is a psychopath who raped and killed your other one. But going through this whole sordid story, there's one question that I haven't seen answered anywhere - did anyone actually bother to look into her parents? Because I can't believe that such a twisted psychopath would simply form on their own within a normal family. |

And what about her new husband, incidentally? How could anyone who knew her history look at her and think "that's my angel"?

As for her new husband, there is no shortage of women who throw themselves at serial killers, sening them naked pictures of themselves. I mean, Milhouse's dad didn't want to leave prison because he was getting more attention behind bars than he ever had on the outside! Obviously, men are no smarter in this regard. Christians are supposed to forgive, absolutely, but marry and have a kid with such a psycho? It boggles my mind. |

I'm having a really hard time deciding who's worse - serial killers or their hybristophiliac groupies? Edit: Ooops, LKD beat me to it. And yup, I meant raving as in talking wildly.

The thing I find most surprising was that while he fled the country, he certainly wasn't in hiding. I mean, he was hanging out at an internet cafe when they found him, and according to one of the cafe employees, he had been there for over a hour. Talk about hiding in plain sight.

It actually makes sense to me, Aldeth. Given that he isn't contesting the extradition order, it's looking more and more that he did this for the attention. If he was caught in an internet cafe in Montreal I'm sure the international attention on this case would have been far less but since he fled the country and went travelling through a few European countries it makes the case that much weirder.
You can plead insanity all you want, but the fact of the matter is he had a plan to escape the country and knew what he wanted to do with the body parts. If I were on the jury this guy has to face, he'd be going away for an incredibly long time. |
