I almost purchase this game this past weekend for $35. How does this game compare to BG series and is it worth the money?

You can get it through SP for $24... http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/Store/index_pc.php
It doesn't really compare to the BG series. It's an action-adventure, and not really that good. |

Is this game better on PS2? If so I think I will purchase it for my PS2.

I would suppose it's more or less exacly the same. And as Tal said, it doesn't compare at all to the BG series. Sure, i found it fun the first time, but i won't bother playing it again i think. IMO not worth the purchase, find a friend and borrow it from him

You should be able to get it for 20$ now, I even saw a copy of it at Compusa for 10$, but it was just the cd in a case with no manual or anything (it wasnt bootleg or anything).
Im sorta wanting to get this game, but everything I read about it just makes me want not want to waste the money... |

I should also say that the only reason why I even want to play is game is because I like the female drow as one of the main PCs in the game... they almost never have female drows as main pc's in games it seems.

Depends how much you have to spend. If it's a matter of not getting a game you know you would enjoy, go for the other game. If it's a matter of a couple of beers less, go for Demon Stone, I guess. Probably better than nothing but, as Tal says, nothing of the BG format. It's an action RPG. So action that not really RPG any longer. It's probably better to regard it as an action game in Forgotten Realms.

To be honest I think it looks like an alright game. I've been wanting to purchase it myself. But actually, I thought it resembled more the LotR-series by EA Games than the BG
A games. Atleast that's what I heard?..

the click to a rsi type of game in a fantasy setting should not be using the term RPG, but use hack and slash. In holland it is not in the budjet bin yet. Haven't seen it on the normal shelves either. But if I find it in the bin, why not? Mid 2006 is a long time to wait.

You're on to something Orichifunk; it is a lot like the LOTR games. At least more then any other Forgotten Realms game.

I just bought the game yesterday, and it is very good. The story was even written by the author of everyone's favorite dark elf ranger.

The Dreadful Bear

All Salvatore's stories aren't that good, the fact he has written this story isn't necessarily the 'grade-A' *stamp*
Bought demon stone some time ago, nice fighting and all, but... All the characters seem stereotypical, you follow a straight tube that has orcs etc. in it. The game's more like a really bad book, not enough choices/roleplaying involved. Remember! Before playing, say sayonara to your brains! Hack-zap-stab. |

Sorry for getting off topic, but what which of Salvatore's stories aren't good?
Back on-topic, the characters are really good, especially considering the connections to the FR world. |

The Dreadful Bear

(really off topic booktalk) Well (Drizzt's) Dark Elf Trilogy is good, Ice Wind readable, but others kind of suck.
Salvatore writes good fighting scenes, everything else is just seems invisible, 'reasons' to make those fights. Also, how many characters die and are resurrected? Have you read Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones? Even worse than the movie. Those characters need personality, otherwise nice people. |

Good point. Anyhow, I thought the voice acting was good. Drizzt's VA was much better than the ones who did him in Menozebberran (spelling might wrong) and Baldur's Gate I&II. I thought the Gith woman was going to be speaking in English or some wierd dialect, but whatever she was speaking, the language was just plain...freaky. I guess that's how someone from another plane should sound.

Sorry for the off topic question:
In which games you can play as Drizzt? |

Shoulda gone to Specsavers

Sorry to bump this, but you can play as Drizzt in one of the Dark Alliance *spit* games. DA2, I believe, once you've completed the game. He;s not great though, my char was more powerful.

And the first DA as well. You can cheat him or unlock him after beating the game.
Wow, I just realized this thread was two years long dead. Woopsie. |

It's worth it on the ps2. I had it and wish I would have kept it. Great graphics for the ps2 and the voice acting is not bad at all. The story is pretty cool and the characters actually show their upgraded inventory unlike some games.
