Ok it's time to come clean - I missed BGII! Reading all post by Heisenberg made me think about the greatest game there is... and I realized that although I have finished the game on numerous occasions, I have never been able to finsih with "the bad guys". So this is it - my serious attempt to conquer the BGII world with an evil party. I'm going for this lot:
Half-Orc F/T Korgan Edwin Viccy HD ...and Sarevok later... My question is this - I'm powergaming (no doubt about it) so I will try to do as many quest as possible. But I'm wondering about two things: 1) Is there any situation were being "evil" will give me an advantage compared to being good? 2) Right now my F/T put prof.points in Ls, Sw and daggers - any hints? I know about the staffs but whats your usual combo for dual-wielding? |

As long as you have longswords everything else is just a question of what you think looks cooler or has a better enchantment. I personally always get katanas, scimitars and shortswords. |

In terms of tangible game choices and the like, not really.
I do play evil once in a while, but it's really the different party that gives things a different flavour. Korgan who's along to get rich and bathe himself in blood. Edwin who's along in his own personal pursuit of power. Sarevok, same thing. Jan falling in with me makes him more a victim of circumstance than anything else. And then there's Viconia, who's at once turned on by my murderous power-hungry Cleric / Ranger, and yet afraid of the vulnerability that's implied. And they don't play nice with each other either, which is almost half the fun. On most campaigns, I definitely prefer the righteous father-figure Keldorn (which he becomes to my Elven F/M), my spunky little sis' Imoen, and of course Jaheira, who I would take over Viconia anyday. But going evil once in a while does change the flavour somewhat, with a lot of it simply coming from the different NPCs you bring along.*Note* I usually bring Anomen along, more like ... "gawd this is wearying, but he does make himself useful" and Sarevok in ToB, as a kind of curious reclamation project for my Elven F/M. |

I'm considering doing my first evil playthrough when Enhanced Edition is released. This would require a fully "evil" party, so no neutrals allowed (e.g. no Haer'dalis, Jan, etc).
At this moment I would probably structure such a party thusly: -Bhaalspawn: A human Berserker7/clericX (main healer) - twf - flail and hammer -Korgan (Berserker, main tank) - axe and shield -Dorn Il-Khan - (Blackguard - assuming he can be carried over from BGEE) - Greatsword -Viconia (changed to MC fighter/cleric, mace and shield) -Edwin (Conjurer) -Assassin (created from scratch) |

My thoughts:
Can a F/T join Bodhi? I didn't think she allows thieves. Weapon choices would depend on the mods you have. If you're not allowing weapon mods then katana, long sword, short sword, club, and dagger. There some great weapon and item upgrade mods that allow you to make excellent weapons for thieves. |

I believe she allows you to join her regardless of your class. The only class that might have a problem is a Paladin or maybe a good aligned Cleric. Like T2Bruno said there are some pretty great item upgrade mods out there, like this one
http://weidu.org/item.html That's the mod I mainly use for items in BG2. It gives Celestial Fury a great upgrade. It also has some convenience upgrades for items that are useful at one point but become useless later on. I suggest you give it a try. |

Single class thieves cannot join Bodhi, though every other class (including thief/x combinations) can.

I thought multiclass thieves were excluded as well.
BTW, why is it that every time I look at this thread title, I keep thinking it's going to be about some guy that went on an evil rage against the world kinda like in the original Casino Royale movie because he was frustrated at being spurned by girls and thus unable to lose that pesky virginity? |

as great as the game is, the evil side is a bit lacking
usually being evil in the game means "i'll do good and help, but i'm only doing it for the money" only in a few rare occasions do you have an evil alternative, and usually it gives you less exp the big exception is the "evil armor" you can get, the AC is pretty bad, but it has a big amount of magic resistance |

The choices for Evil party members are limited though. That is why I turn to Modded NPCs for evil choices. Especially the mods that don't break the game balance. Silverstar is entertaining, a crazy Assassin. As is Rylorn teh blackguard of Cyric, Spoiler! Kido the Crazy Bard is another good one. Callisto is a monter elven fighter-babe who can cast fireball as a special ability from her armor, added via the Undying mod. I see a Beta for Tsuki, an evil Mage/Thief, has just been released. A likely evil party for one of my playthroughs... PC- Half-Orc Cleric of Talos or F/C Edwin Rylorn Viconia Korgan Silverstar |

Maybe not the best name for a thread... Still - I remember someone started "Playing with a dwarf"... Anyway - I had to restart since half-orcs can't romance Viccy (or can they?) so it became a half-elf F/T instead. Still the same plan - pick up Viccy, Korgan, Edwin and HD - then Sarevok when I reach ToB. And it's a little bit harder than usual since a) I haven't played in a long time and b) doing the planar prison without decent weapons and spells (since I didn't wanna waste anytime sleeping) is a PITA. The damn Warden was annoying, until I realised that I had a scroll of Haste... Summoning the Air Elemental helped with the final battle. Having a reputation of 7 is bad as well... I don't exactly wanna pay Ribald 19800 for a girdle that will improve Viccy's strength... Oh well - have to go and pick up Jaheira at the Harper Hold.

Viccy will romance half-orcs if your game is patched. There is a mace called Mauler's Arm that Bernard at the Copper Coronet sells once you've defeated the Slavers, it raises your str to 18. Standard SoA weapon for Viccy, along with slings.

I know about Mauler's Arm but I seldom use it. Strength belt + FoA is usually how I equip Viccy. Not the best combo since she isn't a frontliner but... I seldom take her with me and in this particular group there isn't any other choice for FoA. Btw - wielding short swords is actually quiet fun. Just got the powerful +2 longsword which heals you when it damages the opponent (Adj.. the drinker something)... Good times... I actually has no gameplan for charname - just try out some of the choices that I usually ignore. when it comes to weapons

So far so good.. and empty. Well... being evil is not great... although the NPC:s are... I'm the posterboy for Lawful Good (and romancing Aerie) and now I'm... doing the opposite... So what's different from my usual runs (and I've completed GBII on numerous occasions so...):
* killing NPC:s - yes i did. It was a logic decision to kill the Ogre "Aerie" - just as it was logic to backstab Jaheira to chunky bits after her involment with the Harpers almost killed me... * More powerful NPC:s! Yes - Edwin and Korgan absolutely own the good guys - Viccy... well not so much but she is hot! HD (although not evil) is great! * Different game! My standard game (when playing good and going for Imoen) has a very strict order of things to do: 1) Escaope Dungeon, 2) Do Renals quest in the Docks and 3) Finish up everything in the graveyard. Since I have no plans (exept murderous ones) for Imoen - I don't have this problem... BTW - F/T is great (backstab anyone who is in your way works... almost...) except when you do the Planar Prison Quest early... Damn! That sucked... Of course - I didn't have any good weapons but still... |
