    [​IMG] Thanks to our successful fundraiser, our community gets to put an NPC into the game (and get the website in the game credits to boot!)... but what kind of an NPC should it be?

    Here's the info from Kickstarter:

    Since not much is known about the game yet, might as well brainstorm in the broadest of terms, not just the most obvious.

    It really depends on whether we get to add some background info on the NPC, which is actually placed within the game somehow.
    If we just slap the name Sir Bel on him and be done with it, then no-one will know it has anything to do with SP. Except for us, of course :p.

    NPC should be named Beltrax. We should research the catch phrases they used here on SP. Then possibly incorporate those phrases into the dialogue for Beltrax. (Ex. Beltrax face-palming while muttering something about everyone's technical ineptitude.)

    Or....... take suggestions in this thread over a certain time period. Then Poll the suggestions for a certain time period and then you have your NPC name? Then do the same for the dialogue once the name is chosen via the Poll.

    I like the idea of naming the NPC after Kitrax and Sir Belisarius. It would have to be a good character, one who likes to help others. Foul-mouthed can stay in. Although I don't remember either using foul language and I chatted with Kitrax a lot on FAI. Kitrax was technological oriented but I think a Mage/wizard would work.

    I like the Kitrax/Sir Belisarius. The technological stuff and facepalming is nice for Kit's part. Judging from his role on our boards, Bel was good with numbers and judging from his pics, he liked to explore places as well. Combines nice into a smart fellow. With an animal companion (dog) :D

    Bel was named after a Paladin-like character, right?

    Kitrax was too chaotic for a paladin, but definitely good. A ranger would fit them both well, I think.

    Here's some unsolicited advice: elect one or two people to determine the NPC, and basically give them full authority over it. If you try to do it by committee or forum-wide, you'll end up squabbling it to death over little silly things or reducing it to something banal and ridiculous in the spirit of 'compromise.' :) :2c:

    Look here for more info on filling out the NPC survey!

    I think that we're in agreement over the name, at least. Beltrax sounds good to me.

    So what we still need:

    1) NPC Description (400 characters max)

    2) NPC Fate. Would we be OK with our NPC suffering a gruesome fate or not? Keeping in mind that this is a) a game and b) that both of the people we're basing this on are already dead and that considering the situation that they might be OK with "suffering a grim fate" in the game as well? Quite honestly, I didn't know either of them well enough to be able to guess whether they'd find being killed off again in the game amusing or not. If it was me though, I'd totally go for it. :shake:

    3) NPC Type 1st choice: Explorer?

    4) NPC Type 2nd choice: Military?

    5) NPC Location: I'd go with "Any" since the devs know best where our NPC would be most appropriately placed.

    6) NPC Race: Human, non-mutant?

    (Ignore the Art Print bit as it does not appy to us.)

    Also keep in mind that as part of our reward, similarly as with Pillars of Eternity, we get to put a Dead Hero and an Epitaph for him/her in the game. So we ALSO get to fill this out:

    1) Dead Hero Name:
    (Name for the Valley of Dead Heroes.)

    2) Dead Hero Epitaph:
    (Epitaph for the Valley of Dead Heroes; 250 characters max.)

    Naturally, since we're putting Kitrax and Bel in the game as an NPC it wouldn't work also having them as dead heroes...
