Here are today's Dragon Age forum highlights, taken from the Dragon Age Official Forum. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

    Weapon Speeds, Fighting Styles

The speeds are all going to vary based on balancing. The current plan is 'slower' than a one handed weapon... there aren't really any numbers I could tell you that would be useful... as I know they're going to change.

With knives, the majority of movement has to be with your body because the blade is so short... which automatically puts you at a disadvantage if you're fighting someone with a sword. Yes, you can move it quickly... but who cares, if you can't actually reach your opponent without getting gutted.

As for styles of swords, I believe the art is going to be loosely based on historical samples... there will probably be a fairly broad sampling that they look at. That said however, I'm not sure if they're going to be looking specifically at basket hilted blades or not.

    More:

Yep, Two Thrones is a pretty fun game. I try to stay up on most games that have any kind of interesting combat in them...

As it relates to DA, we're not really aiming for that style of slightly superhuman ability for basic combat. When you come away from a fight you should have the feeling that with a significant amount of training most of the physical moves that you see could possibly be done in the real world.

So, that means a normal fighter couldn't really run straight up a wall... or jump twenty feet straight up...
