Eh, this is a lot ado over nothing, seriously. The star clearly isn't the Star of David but an imitation of a sheriff's badge star and the stripes aren't even remotely the same either. So basically this is an outrage over the fact that someone used black & white stripes and a yellow star on the same shirt. Obviously the problem is more the irony of putting a sheriff's badge on a shirt more evocative of the old-style US prisoners' garb than anything else, but depending on how problematic your kid is, it could be quite fitting...

I think it's probably just a case of being oblivious to how others might take it. Perception is reality and there are still people alive who were forced to wear a star just like that to identify themselves. To sell the garment in Israel is extra stupid.

The Nazi yellow star wasn't really the same - it didn't have circled corners like the sheriff's badge (and the one on the shirt does have circled corners). But I guess you need to look closely and most people probably don't. I'd actually agree with the outrage if the star fit the alleged crime, but it doesn't. But I guess looking similar from afar is already too much to tolerate. The picture quality in the article is poor, but if you zoom in on the star you can actually see SHERIFF written on it in big letters.

I don't to live on this planet anymore. Are people getting stupider or just louder?
