So I've been trying to work out using this map where on Toril is Kuldahar, or for that matter where is anywhere (except Easthaven) from the Icewind Dale world map! Any ideas, guys? The two maps seem to bear no relation to each other, though I'm guessing in the first one the Spine of the World is that line leading up to Kelvin's Cairn.

Kuldahar wouln't show on your map as it is SE from Easthaven. Most of the areas except Easthaven in IWD are not on any FR maps. I have a HUGE collection of FR material. Never seen Kuldahar on anything, but there wasn't a lot of info for the Icewind Dale area created by TSR or Wizards. Only the stuff relating to the Salvatore books and I believe one Accessory with a few supporting modules. But they only covered the direct region of Ten-Towns, they didn't delve into the Spine of the World where Kuldahar is located at it's Westernmost edges.

Oh! I didn't realise the Spine is SE of Ten Towns. That makes a bit more sense. So for the expedition they must have crossed that rivery bit in Lac Dinneshere. I guess I figured they stayed on the same side of the lake. Thanks!

I guessed they probably were here somewhere, but it ended up being quicker and easier to Google them. Also the one of Ten Towns doesn't seem to be there. Thanks, though!

EDIT: I can update the link if you'd like.

Does it say that in one of the games, or do you know that from another source?

I'm trying to piece together a map of all the Icewind Dale 1+2 areas according to Forgotten Realms lore, and the location of Kuldahar and the Severed Hand eludes me.

Here's the most detailed Forgotten Realms map of the Northern Sword Coast that I could find: http://www.candlekeep.com/downloads/north_pt1.jpg

Where would you say Kuldahar and the Severed Hand should be, on this map?

PS: The Forgotten Realms Wiki says it is "in the northern foothills of the freezing Spine of the World mountain chain". So I guess the whole green valley we see in the IWD1 world map is engulfed inside the Spine of the World mountains, which continue further to the south of that map?

I tried to trace the path of the IWD2 heroes from Targos to Kuldahar on the aforementioned Forgotten Realms map:

Still not sure where Kuldahar is though. Does anyone know if IWD2 gives any further in-game details about the direction/distance of Kuldahar from the Black Raven Monastery?
