    UI MODS:
    =======

    DarNified UI NV [WIP]
-This mod makes Fallout New Vegas UI look as it should have looked in the first place for the PC version (smaller, better, cleaner).

    SimpleHUD
-simple and elegant, it works with or without Darn UI.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    UTILITIES:

    ========

    New Vegas Mod Manager
    -you'll need it.

    FNVEdit
-it's unfinished so caution is advised.

Performance fix for Nvidia and ATI
-If you encounter some problems running the game on your machine you could give this fix a try. Running the game in compatibility mode may help as well.

    Run without Launcher
-A work around to bypass Steam to run the game (useful at times but won't help if steam doesn't let you run the game off line).

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    GAMEPLAY:
    ========

    Immersive Karma

-no more intrusive sounds and pops up.

    Immersive Sneaking
-inspired by the Realistic Sneak mod for Fallout 3, an optional esp also removes the 'empty' caption from the game (so you can't know if a container is empty just by looking at it).

    Companion Sandbox Mode
-increases realism when you tell a companion to wait in an area.

    Child At Heart Perk

-brings back this perk in the game (it was disabled in the final version).

    Perk Every Level
-Allows you to choose a perk at every level instead of every other level. Useful if you don't want to try some minor perks without messing up your build or just want variety. It's convenient but it will make the game easier.

    Bottle That Water
-something that really makes sense (I guess without this mod, characters just smash their bottles once they're done with them).

    Kobu - Better Binoculars
-highly recommended, it makes binoculars useful.

    Faster Pipboy Faster

-speeds up the animation when you open the pipboy.

T3T Misc Item Icons - New Vegas
-adds pipboy icons to items that didn't have any.

Shiloh DS - Colored Map and Icons and Shiloh DS - Clean Pipboy Screen
-the coloured map is beautiful furthermore icons and information can be customized as you wish.

    Glowing Star Bottle Cap
-The glow looks a bit reddish but that is a very useful mod for players who want to make sure they're not leaving some of these caps behind or players who don't have a perfect eyesight and may have a hard time looking for them.

    Corpse Equip
-ideal for scavengers. You can put a clothing item or armour in a dead character's inventory and make them equip the items.

    Shaving Razors
-Modifies all straight razors in the game so they can be used for grooming purposes and not only as weapons.

    Working Crimson Caravan Traders
-allows these traders to trade with you (they weren't supposed to so it's not really a fix but it's useful nonetheless).

    Inventory Sorters
-Useful for convenience. I use the Magazine sorter since they can clutter up the inventory after a while and I tend to hoard them in game but there are many different options and compatibility fixes for other mods.

    Atomic Mods - Backpacks_NV
-adds backpacks to vendors. The larger backpacks incur a penalty to Agility and the mod is rather well balanced.

Easy Unlocking - Easy Hacking - Guaranteed Pick Pocket
-different options are available. I didn't try the pick pocket mod. Nice mod if you want to skip the minigames.

    Restore Health limited to Stimpaks
-simply removes the Restore Health value for all items except stimpaks, super stimpaks, xander roots, broc flowers and bitter drinks.

    XscaPe Slower Levelling mod
-a modification of the Swift Learner perk to do the exact opposite (i.e. reduce the amount of XP that is gained, the experience system itself is not altered).

    WolverinePerkMod
-the claws and the regeneration effect are implemented in a really satisfying way but they will make most vanilla battles incredibly easy. Better to use it when increased spawns will be released. Not lore friendly but awesome.

    Faster Wild Wasteland
-running faster with the Wild Wasteland trait.

    CHILD CAN USE playable children
-allows to play as a child and use items that are restricted to adults.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    FOLLOWERS:
    =========

    Sunny Smiles Companion
-allows you to recruit Sunny Smiles as a companion.

    Marcus Companion

-allows you to recruit Marcus as a companion.

    Cafe of Broken Dreams -Jericho
-an ongoing project which is meant to bring back former followers into the game.

    Boone With Beard
-a small modification but it makes a huge difference.

    Rex Steampunk Retexture
-Changes the way Rex looks to give it a more rusty appearance.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    QUESTS:
    =========

    New Vegas Bounties I

    -fully voiced bounty hunting quest.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    LOCATIONS:
    =========

    Goodsprings Shack
-Adds a shack to Goodsprings (the dialogue added by this mod is not voiced and that may break immersion).

    Goodsprings Filler
-Expands Goodsprings especially if you're siding with the good guys. The mod is voiced so it blends in rather well.

    Jacobstown Expanded
-doesn't change the exterior, it only adds interiors.

    Nipton Revisited
-greatly adds to immersion by adding a timer that will clean up the place 48 hours after you've reached it.

Populated Wasteland, Populated Casinos and Military Expansion Program

-these mods add numerous generic NPCs to the game. Warning: this may cause performance issues in more crowded areas.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    ARMOUR/CLOTHING:
    ===============

No Pipboy Glove from Doc Mitchell
-prevents Doc Mitchell from giving the pipboy glove to the player without changing anything to the pipboy itself.

    Plausible Starting Outfit
-an interesting choice if you don't want a vault suit for your character.

    Wasteland Courier Type 3
-Female characters only. Adds a nice outfit to Doc Mitchell's house. It blends in the setting quite nicely and makes for a pretty nice starting outfit.

    JaySuS Rogue Ranger Coats
-Blends in quite well with the western theme of the game and vanilla outfits.

    Eyepatch
-perfect if you like the eyepatch look.

    Gunslinger outfit

    -western themed outfit.

    Wasters Scarf 2_0

-really fitting given the western atmosphere of this game.

    Playable Miss Fortune Outfit
-an option for zany female characters.

    The Girl
-the retex looks pretty cool, a must have for players who like the Miss Fortune outfit.

    Sinbloods Venomous Armor
-Female characters only. Adds a very nice outfit that is just perfect for a wastelander female courier in a post apocalyptic setting.

    Lady outfit for Type3
-very cool and stylish female outfit, sexy but tasteful.

    Vegas Chokers
-adds a collar item (really useful to conceal the neckline).

    Non NCR Ranger Patrol armours
-a slightly different look and no NCR affiliation.

    Clear Helmets for Radsuits
    -makes the radsuit helmets transparent.

NCR Ranger Patrol Armor stance fix
-Fixes the problem with Ranger Patrol Armours that made characters wearing them look like Playmobils.

    Invisible Pipboy
-you can't see it but it's there. It won't work with most outfits which cover the left arm so for instance it won't work with power armours but it will work with combat armours and leather armours.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    WEAPONS:
    ========

Single Shotgun Retextured, 9mm Submachine gun retextured, 9mm pistol re-texture, 357 revolver retextured, 22 Silenced Retexture, Varmint Rifle - Retextured
-all these (really good) textures are by the same modder.

MUW - Moddable Unique Weapons 1_6
    -what it says.

    Nuka-Grenades
, Shishkebab Schematics, Deathclaw Gauntlet Schematics, New Dart Gun and Railway Rifle
-these mods bring back the custom weapons from Fallout 3 (the files were included in Fallout New Vegas but not implemented).

    RHINORevolver

-A really big revolver with custom textures and scope (that can be added). You'll have to fix it first.

    JaySuS Swords
-blades and swords for the entire family.

    Stampede, Frontier, Showdown
-western themed weapons that can be found in Goodsprings.

    DWPPCRevolver or Dan Wesson PPC
-adds a pretty cool looking handgun to either Quarry Junction or Goodsprings.

BEWARE OF GIRL Devils Mistress NEW VEGAS
-adds a new prized gun to Benny's collection (it is based on the Dan Wesson PPC).

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    FACE/BODY MODS:
    ===============

    Courier Race
-allows the courier to sport a scar on his/her face as a result of what happens in the intro movie.

    FO3 Facegen Presets
-useful if you miss some of the old templates from Fallout 3

BEWARE OF GIRL Type 3 HiRez HiDetailed Replacer
-a new body for females [warning nudity -although there is also an underwear version of this mod], chek out Type3 Body and Armor replacer if you use it as a replacer. For guys you can choose between Breezes New Vegas Males or Roberts Male Body for Fallout New Vegas.

BEWARE OF GIRL African American Albino Race NEW VEGAS
-[warning: nudity] adds a playable female race that comes with very detailed textures (skin, hair and eyes are included) making it possible to create a very good looking female character. Since it also adds some weapons and outfits in Doc Mitchell's house it can be useful even if you don't make a new character. The outfits are for female characters only but both genders can use the guns. Very useful mod if you want to make a good looking female character.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    RADIO/MUSIC MODS:
    ===============

    Black Mountain Radio Everywhere
-allows you to listen to this radio anywhere in the Wasteland.

Radio New Vegas - The Secret Stash
-expands the playlist for the New Vegas radio with up to 60 new vintage songs from the 40s and 50s. These songs were chosen because quests were named after them.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Don't hesitate to post recommendations for mods in this thread and last but not least, enjoy your modded game.

The following mod is announced as reized. Ihave not played this mod and so can give no recomendation but I know other mods of the modder and think he is good and worth taking a look at.

Thanks Nakia. There seems to be no link in your post but I found it after a quick search on the Nexus: Goodsprings Shack. I'll check it out but I have to finish the game first.

I have found some interesting mods and I've started modding myself (small modifications as far as I'm concerned). I'll list them here in no particular order and I'll update the main post later on.

Plausible Starting Outfit is an interesting choice if you don't want a vault suit for your character (it clashes a bit with dialogues).

It gave me the idea to make a Playable Miss Fortune Outfit to make fun of Doc Mitchell's lines.

The FO3 Facegen Presets is useful if you miss some of the old templates from Fallout 3.

There is a new body for females [warning nudity] BEWARE OF GIRL Type 3 HiRez HiDetailed Replacer but guys aren't so lucky Breezes New Vegas Males is probably the best thing right now for guys.

There is a really cool looking outfit for girls: Lady outfit for Type3. I have to start a game with a female courier soon.

If you're into blades and swords then JaySuS Swords is a very good option (I'm partial to some of these models).

Some of the faces in the game are a bit off. Boone With Beard is a small modification but it makes a huge difference IMO.

Despite its stiffness I like the Ranger Patrol Armor so I've decided to make two different suits based on this armour: Non NCR Ranger Patrol armours.

I haven't played with the Wild Wasteland trait yet but as I find the running speed to be a tad too slow for my tastes I've edited this trait to increase speed: Faster Wild Wasteland.

Some tricks that worked with Fallout 3 work with New Vegas (others don't unfortunately) so I was able to make a Clear Helmets for Radsuits for NV.

I should also point out that it is easy (in most cases) to uses Fallout 3 resources to make a mod for Fallout New Vegas. Basically you can use most meshes and textures from F3. Since there are thousands of mods on the Nexus the possibilities are endless (don't forget to ask permission and give proper credit before uploading a mod or resources you've converted to New Vegas or just use it for your own game exclusively).

For instance here is what I was able to come up with by using Fallout 3 stuff in Fallout New Vegas: screenshots 1 and 2.

Sorry about the link, Cara, I guess I forgot to double check. I haven't started NV yet probably next week. I would like to try some modding myself. Scripting is going to hard for me because I dislike programming.

If you need voice actors I think I can get you a woman whose voice is beautiful, American Standard English but she can do some variation. Can sound very young. And  if you do an 'older' woman, Silvery says my voice sounds 'Posh". I do good at evil sounding voices too. Again American Standard English, more or less but can do what I call a pseudo Hillbilly Accent.

Male actors I can link you to two sites that do VAing. Might be able to get you a couple of actors that are good. One is Texan and the other has a voice or voices to dream about. He is unblieable. We would have to work together on those though. Unless you join TEG.

It would be great although I must say I'm more of a tinkerer myself. Scripting is fine provided you don't mess up the lines. Anyhow I don't know if they've fixed the lip sync thing (with F3 we have to use... the Oblivion toolset). Modding an NPC is a huge task and not for the faint of heart.

    I can do a French accent. :p

Well I am going to learn as much as I can. French accent? The TEG VA Guild could use you.

If anyone is interested in VAs I can get sample links easily. Women's voices are a little hard to find but TEG has two really beautiful voices.

I'll have to register then. I used to be able to do a Scottish accent but it's been such a long time that I'm not sure it would sound that good now (probably better if I watch a few Scottish movies to get back in the mood or have a wee dram -I can't drink Irn Bru).

Anyway, there are so many mods that it isn't even remotely funny. I need to organize the first post and I'm starting to think that I'll have to create several threads if this trend doesn't stop. It's impossible to keep up with the stuff that comes up everyday.

What happened recently is that I had in mind to edit the mod value for Maria (a unique 9mm pistol in game) so it could be modded in game with a scope, an extended mag or both. I make the necessary changes and test my stuff before uploading to the Nexus as a beta for more testing. A few minutes later a poster directs me towards a link for this mod: MUW - Moddable Unique Weapons 1_6, a mod that does the same job only it's been tested and it works for every unique weapons in game...

I had a look at the links that have been advertised and I found some gems.

    Immersive Karma
, no more intrusive sounds and pops up.

Companion Sandbox Mode which increases realism when you tell a companion to wait in an area.

Light Step ED-E which turns Ed-E into a real flying robot.

Bottle That Water, something that really makes sense (I guess without this mods, characters just smash their bottles once they're done with them).

I'm also glad to point out that the WolverinePerkMod although I wouldn't recommend using it without some mod that dramatically increases the difficulty. The claws and the regeneration effect are implemented in a really satisfying way but they will make most vanilla battles incredibly easy.

I've also had a look at a mod that introduces a new outfit based on the Miss Fortune outfit, The Girl, the retex looks pretty cool but like my own mod it has a problem with arms not showing up in first person which is a bit of a drag (hopefully that will be solved at some point).

Sifting through mods and modding stuff in the game takes just too much time and I really need to get back to playing the game.

That being said I would like to try and make a Raven follower that would possiby help locate stuff like a dog follower. I'm not sure that ravens have attack animations (I haven't checked yet) and I don't think they do so it wouldn't be a fighting companion. It should be doable but I remember the last time I tried making a new follower NPC for Fallout 3. That is a lot of work and voice acting is really the fun part.

Mods have come up fast. TEG (Giskard) is working on an overhaul that returns the respawing points. We'll see what he comes up with.

TEG is a very private site so don't expect anything vaguely resembling SP. :D If you do join let me know. I generally don't bother with the "Welcoming" threads. But if you join I'll hlp out to give you a warm greeting. Just be sure to read the rules and whatever else they have posted there. Anyquestions PM me here.

Thanks Nakia, you make it sound like the kind of place where you need to be packing some heat Fallout style. :)

Anyhow I should play the game more but I keep having (silly) ideas that I'd like to try out and given the fact that I'm useless with Nifskope and Blender it doesn't make it any easier (I had in mind to modify the Nerd Rage perk so that it would turn the character in some sort of Hulk).

Nevertheless making small modifications is not such a hassle. I've uploaded a mod that removes the messages when sneaking, Immersive Sneaking. It's inspired by the Realistic Sneak mod for Fallout 3 and I've included an optional esp that removes the 'empty' caption from the game (so you can't know if a container is empty just by looking at it).

Don't pay attention to what I say. I've had my problems because I didn't understand some things. It is a good place for someone wanting to learn about making mods, especially Fallout NV right now.

I have been told that the Lip Sync problem is still there. Too bad.

I like that sneak mod modifications. I like to remove things that take away from the immersion of the game.

The lip sync problem is still there? That is a major oversight. Especially when considering that the good people at Obsidian must have paid some attention to the most popular mods for Fallout 3 since they've implemented many features that have first been introduced by mods. It's a bit of a let down.

Still the game is fantastic but there is a major modding craze going on right now. It's hard to keep up.

I've downloaded a mod called Jacobstown Expanded it looks rather promising. There is also the Cafe of Broken Dreams -Jericho which is meant to bring back former followers into the game.

I've only realized that the FNVEdit has been released. It's unfinished and caution is advised.

Amid the numerous new mods today I've noticed a fine looking gun: Stampede. I haven't thoroughly tested it yet because I was too busy making another mod, the Courier Race mod which allows the courier to sport a scar on his face as a result of what happens in the intro movie. That should help with immersion. ;)

EDIT: I've come upon another great mod, Kobu - Better Binoculars it's highly recommended and makes binoculars useful at last.

I've also found out a way to get rid of the infamous pipboy glove (the glove not the pipboy itself) or more exactly a way not to get it when starting a new game: No Pipboy Glove from Doc Mitchell. That thing has annoyed me for years.

EDIT2: I've organized the list, there are 30 mods already and that is only the beginning. ;)

Just too many mods around. I've had a look at some unofficial patches but I haven't played the game so thoroughly that I can comment on them.

Anyway here are my most recent picks:

Dan Wesson PPC, adds a pretty cool looking gun to Goodsprings. You'll have to look around a bit to find it (or just cheat and find out where it is in the Geck).

Vegas Chokers, adds a little collar item which is really useful if you're looking for a way to conceal the neckline on your character (it's a very old issue that can't be solved, if you pay attention you will see a line at the junction between the head and upperbody).

Single Shotgun Retextured, 9mm Submachine gun retextured, 9mm pistol re-texture, 357 revolver retextured, 22 Silenced Retexture, Varmint Rifle - Retextured, all these textures are by the same modder and they are really good. When I first got the Varmint Rifle I found that the model was really good and made the weapon fun to use but I was annoyed by the texture, especially the black blotches on the gun. With the retex it really looks amazing and it's certainly my favourite retex (although I recommend them all, especially the 357 Revolver).

    Faster Pipboy Faster
, speeds up the animation when you open the pipboy. It's four times faster.

Invisible Pipboy, something I've put together to make the pipboy... invisible. You can't see it but it's still there. Unfortunately it won't work with some outfits (generally those that cover the left arm) so power armours won't work but combat armours and leather armours will. I didn't add some fancy scripts but only played with texture references so it won't cause any weirdness.

Great news, a patch that fixes the Direct X issues with the game has just been released!

I can play on Ultra settings at last. What a relief.

Anyway I've found quite a few interesting mods:

T3T Misc Item Icons - New Vegas, it adds pipboy icons to items that didn't have any.

Shiloh DS - Colored Map and Icons and Shiloh DS - Clean Pipboy Screen changes the map and it's beautiful. Icons and information can be customized as you wish (if you don't use the game utility you can use winrar to extract the archive by the way).

Corpse Equip, ideal for scavengers. You can put a clothing item or armour in a dead character's inventory and dress them. Works fine with cannibalism.

I've got a whole batch of mods to unload and some pretty good stuff too. ;)

    Wasteland Courier Type 3*
-Female characters only. Adds a nice outfit to Doc Mitchell's house. It blends in the setting quite nicely and makes for a pretty nice starting outfit.

    Sinbloods Venomous Armor
-Female characters only. Adds a very nice outfit that is just perfect for a wastelander female courier in a post apocalyptic setting.

    JaySuS Rogue Ranger Coats
-Blends in quite well with the western theme of the game and vanilla outfits.

NCR Ranger Patrol Armor stance fix
-Fixes the problem with Ranger Patrol Armours that made characters wearing them look like Playmobils.

    RHINORevolver

-A really big revolver with custom textures and scope (that can be added). You'll have to fix it first (makes for a nice change of pace when considering weapons that just lie there waiting for someone to pick them up).

BEWARE OF GIRL Devils Mistress NEW VEGAS
-adds a new prized gun to Benny's collection (it is based on the Dan Wesson PPC).

    Child At Heart Perk

-brings back this perk in the game (it was disabled in the final version).

    Nipton Revisited
-greatly adds to immersion by adding a timer that will clean up the place 48 hours after you've reached it.

    Goodsprings Filler
-Expands Goodsprings especially if you're siding with the good guys. The mod is voiced so it blends in quite well.

    Working Crimson Caravan Traders
-allows these traders to trade with you (they weren't supposed to so it's not really a fix but it's useful nonetheless).

    Rex Steampunk Retexture
-Changes the way Rex looks to give it a more rusty appearance.

    Eyepatch
-perfect if you like the eyepatch look. I've used the Fallout 3 resources for my characters in the past but this mod does it nicely if you don't know your way around the Geck.

    Inventory Sorters
-Useful for convenience. I use the Magazine sorter since they can clutter up the inventory after a while and I tend to hoard them in game but there are many different options and compatibility fixes for other mods.

    EDIT: Glowing Star Bottle Cap
-The glow looks a bit reddish but that is a very useful mod for players who want to make sure they're not leaving some of these caps behind or players who don't have a perfect eyesight and may have a hard time looking for them.

    EDIT2: SimpleHUD
-simple and elegant, it works with or without Darn UI.

    Shaving Razors
-Modifies all straight razors in the game so they can be used for grooming purposes and not only as weapons.

Cara, the TEG Main Page has some modders tutorials up on it. Also I understand that he will release a Mod very soon. I tell you without hesitation or reservation his stuff is good.

If you need the link I can get it for you. Also the forum is more open now. And personally I think the VA Guild could use a French Accent. :)

Hint. It is safe, don't worry. Only Halfling Rogues get in trouble because we just don't fit the human mold. :D We hate to be compartmentalized.

    Thanks Nakia. :)

Time for an update of the modlist:

    Populated Wasteland
, Populated Casinos and Military Expansion Program

-these mods add numerous generic NPCs to the game. Warning: this may cause performance issues in more crowded areas.

    Atomic Mods - Backpacks_NV
-adds backpacks to vendors. The larger backpacks incur a penalty to Agility and the mod is rather well balanced.

    Frontier, Showdown
    -western themed weapons.

    Gunslinger outfit

    -western themed outfit.

    Wasters Scarf 2_0

-really fitting given the western atmosphere of this game.

    Marcus Companion

-allows you to recruit Marcus as a companion. Fallout 2 nostalgia... :)

    Nuka-Grenades
, Shishkebab Schematics, Deathclaw Gauntlet Schematics, New Dart Gun and Railway Rifle
-these mods bring back the custom weapons from Fallout 3 (the files were included in Fallout New Vegas but not implemented).

    New Vegas Bounties I

    -fully voiced bounty hunting quest.

    Sunny Smiles Companion
-allows you to recruit Sunny Smiles as a companion.

    CHILD CAN USE playable children
-allows to play as a child and use items that were restricted to adults before.

I don't have too many new mods to add to the list this time as I haven't had much time and one of my games got corrupted probably because of some mod conflict. Fallout New Vegas is not as stable as Fallout 3 and when it comes to mods less is more. ;)

Anyway here are the latest mods I'm currently running and testing:

There is an increased spawns component in Fallout New Vegas Advanced which may make the game much more enjoyable (and difficult) if you like having more enemies around (I know I do). I recommend using a mod that reduces the XP gain or it will make your character level up too fast. I'm currently testing it and it runs rather well so far.

    JaySuS Ninjas

-not lore friendly but fun if you like ninjas (who doesn't?)

Cafe Of Broken Dreams - Dogmeat
-Let's face it, Fallout without Dogmeat is not Fallout.

Casa De Cazadore -I haven't tested it yet so I won't include it in the main post until I do but the modder is really gifted (he made the Librarian/Orion's Gate mod for Fallout 3).

Wasteland Journeyman Armor -I haven't tested it yet either but judging by it looks it should blend well with vanilla armours (it's made of parts of different armours).

There is an entire series of weapon mods based on Classic Fallout weapons like this Classic Flamer Pistol. I haven't tested them in game yet but by they look quite good in the editor.

I'll update the mod list itself later after getting a chance to actually play these mods.
