Well.....I'm one of the bigger fallout fans here (together with some others) and I think after all this time and anticipation it will be good. The game is already half way done, I don't know if they will use it but still.

It all depends if they will make it a true rpg than it will be good, if they make it a strategic shooter it will suck.

I thought that Morrowind was good by the way.

EDIT: I just read the press release carefully and I couldn't discover on which system they will publish it. If they have the nerve to make it only for consolen I will be very very very pissed

Like in BG2; that would be nifty. Hope they make it a bit more plot driven too, but keep the grim atmosphere. Or then it will be "Fallout III: Deadly Shadows." I could had cried over that name, if you know where I'm referring. :shake:

The Dark Age, the Metal Age, "Deadly Shadows?" O...M...G...

This is some of the best news ever!

I thought Morrowind was brilliant, and it'll be good to see what they do with one of my favorite game worlds. Truly awesome news.

    ****.

It's not like I don't like Bethesda (hell, I thought Sea Dogs was great in a very, very non-Fallout kinda way), but seriously, I just want Fallout to die. Kapoof, gone. No more of this crap that will end up, no doubt, with the Fallout fans crucifying the people responsible.

Check the front page of RPGCodex to see what I mean...

Look I wished Troika would do it (just finished Arcanum, one of the best rpg's out there) because of their experience but it shouldn't be that hard. Just listen to the fans and the (fallout)bible, and please do not make it the same 3d view as from Morrowind.

If they use the same or better graphic then they did in Morrowind, make some joinable NPC and throw in a good not to linear story, this game is going to be great. but lets not get all hyped before we some screen shots and hear something more...

If they use that engine and make it real-time it won't be fallout, it can still be a good game but it won't be fallout.

The thing is that several people already asked what the view would be but to quote:

    Isometric view + turn based + S.P.E.C.I.A.L. + fallout universe = fallout3

    All others = no fallout

EDIT: And they better make that M rating :)

Bethesda have said that the only guaranteed format for the game so far is PC.

I think that they have the ability to do this really well, though it really depends what they try and do with it. I can't wait to hear some solid information about the game, rather than just speculation.

I hope bethesda are standing strong right now because it seems that the 'fans' are really really upset about this. And with really really upset I mean stuff I can't quote here because of the language filter, which rpgcodex.com does not have ;)

Oh and with fans I mean psychos, I am a fan but they are out of their minds. The people posting at morrowind suddenly saw their members list doubling last 24 hours and not with the most intelligent posters ;)

I predict they'll trash what was left over from Van Buren and make some sh**** watered down, console-ized fallout. It won't even be top-down in perspective. Basically, this is going to be Morrowind with guns.

I'm pretty sure that they said they were going to ignore anything that was already developed.

A company that specialises in making first person real time RPGs making Fallout? I'm not getting too excited.

Well consoles are a big part of the gaming industry today. But consoles lack seriously in the micromanagement ability a PC has. The font size has to be triple size to appear good in a TV. Aside from that, the original Fallouts were in style such that they would not have fitted consoles (the dark, rather grownup atmosphere and brutality). Therefore not only are most of the fans PC players, but it's also critical for Fallout 3 to be heavily PC stylish in order to remain true to what Fallout 1 & 2 were about.

Sure, developers and publishers have done stupid things in the past. But I think it's safe to say that a PC game will be the first and foremost in the minds of the developers, even if they did decide to make versions for other platforms as well.

I'm rather glad it's in development though. No matter what turns out of it, at least it finally brings a conclusion to all this waiting. I wouldn't really be that shocked of a failure anyway. If that was the case, then I'd just ignore it from my personal list of "Fallout" games.

Edit: Hey, wait a sec. Doesn't that press release claim Bethesda has exclusive rights to Fallout from here on? So the story about a Fallout ONLINE was nothing but a false rumour?

Actually the brilliant Herve Caen  kept the online fallout rights. Bethesda can make all the fallouts as single player games but may not produce a MMORPG, Ineptplay can (not that they will, I hope the cash Bethsoft came up wasn't enough to pay the debts.

Also Bethesda is working on Call of Cthulhu, rejoice! And the next chapter of the Elder Scrolls (probably (and hopefully) not an expansion, since it isn't "the next Chapter of Morrowind").

Overambitious? Let's hope it won't be their downfall.

Well, the news aren't good. A representative of Bethesda has stated the following:

The whole interview is here .

    @ BOC

Yep, at that point, my hope was lost for the title. I doubt this will even maintain the spirit of the Fallout titles.
