It's nothing really I was just thinking about some background information. What is the deal with Drow and spiders, do the Drow worship them or just keep them as pets? Is Lloth(sp?) a Drow or a giant spider? I'm just curious because in my "good" game I saw a lot of spiders in the Drow city, and in the "evil" game I just started Viconia and I ran into some chick with a horde of spiders beneath the graveyard. When she saw Viconia she called her mean names  and yelled at her for being a Drow and killing spiders.

Lloth was the elven goddess of fate (she spins it like the 3 fates) before her fall. The elven form is the one she had before her fall and the spider form is one she was turn into after the fall.

You can find a lot info on Lloth and the elven histories in "Evermeet: Isle of Elves" by Elaine Cunningham

So now she like what, a drider?
I read that she makes drow into driders if they fail to do the test of loyalty and strength for her. They are drow with spiderlegs. Is Llolth also one?

I doubt it. At least she wasn't portrayed as a drider in any of the Drizzt books

In "Seige of Darkness" Lloth is discribed as a extremely beautiful drow.

[IMG] You could have waited till I posted... grr.

Lloth (correctly spelled Lolth) looks vaguely humanoid in form with giant spider legs sticking out from her body at all angles.
Here, I uploaded a pic for you:

I hope it helps your imagination. ;)

[IMG] But luckily, being a Goddess and all, she can take any shape she wants, including the most beautiful Drow ever ;)

Liriel Baenra, beautiful drow, in arguement there.

Lolth can take any form she wants being a goddess. She probably assumes the beautiful drow female most of the time, spiders are merely her 'patrons'. They are sacred to her and anyone who is disrespectful of spiders is killed.

[IMG] I'm afraid my knowledge on the subject is sadly limited, but where does the goddess Shar fit into all this? Is she fond of spiders too?

Shar is the human evil godess of Darkness and every depressive and destructive aspect related to it. She has great power in the underdark but is not worshiped by the drow (at least by most of then). Loth has decreed that the worship of any other god is heresy and should be punished. A drow who worships other gods (even from the drow pantheon) usually does that in secret.
I would also like to add some points to the answers given to the question that originated this thread.

    1) Loth is a god and as such she has the physical form she likes. She usually appears as a type of female drider (the only one), or as a giant spider. She aquired this form in the Abyss where she was banned to by Corellon Larethian for treason against the Sendarine(the elven pantheon)
    2) The drow consider spiders as sacred and to hurt or kill a spider means instat death to whoever does it.
    3) For more information read "Evermeet - Island of Elves" by Elaine Cunningham as mentioned before.

Evermeet's a great book. As a matter of fact I happen to have a copy of it right next to my computer. It goes into all the interesting details of Lolth. Her son and daughter, for one, are pretty interesting. Also, when she was cast into the abyss she was declared tanar'ri, and had to fight with the other beings of the abyss for dominance.

[IMG] Lolth looked good in the Demonweb Pit modules, but she could shapoechange into a spider at will.

Appropriate forum: Viconia is a hottie!!! :D

[IMG] Only avatar I read about was a beautiful drow lady in "Tales of the UnderArk" when she showed Drizzt favor. Other than that, she usually sends Yolchols to do her bidding. Liriel Banre rocks ;)
