It's only just started snowing on the BoM... ;)

NOTE: If the snow is slowing down your computer, select the style "BoM - Snow on Forum Listing Only" from the dropdown menu at the bottom left of any forum page!

Is anyone else seeing the strange effect where the snow appears to be causing a horizontal scroll bar to occasionally flicker on the bottom of the screen while posting?

It's not a big deal, just curious. Here's a screen.

I'm not sure I can spot the problem...? Or, you mean the horizontal scroll bars occasionally appears for no reason? Which browser are you using?

This snow script is wonky... all the prior years some people kept complaining it slows down their computer but it never did for me. Well, this year it does. It's by far the best looking and most realistic snow I could find though. But the random movement of the flakes is likely very CPU intensive... if you can find a better one, I'd be happy to replace it.

I've seen it on two computers, both running the Chrome. It does seem to happen when a snowflake gets dangerously close to the right side border. ;) And yes the scrollbar just appears quite briefly and then goes away and then comes back again, etc. Like a strobe light. Don't worry about it though, I was mainly just curious if I was starting to lose it. :D

This used to happen with Opera as well in the previous years. The current version seems fine though. But it is probably a problem with the snow script anyway.

Ironic that, say, 8 years ago the snow worked just fine for people. Same basic snow... nearly a decade of PC improvements later, it's somehow too laggy.

    I hear you Marce.
Imagine my face after it made my gaming-rig buckle.
    Lost faith in tech.
Maybe the Snow requires DX11 or such.
    (Or a render-farm) :D

It's because of global warming - milder temperatures cause the snow to be wetter and heavier, thus increasing both its mass and velocity. And since kinetic energy equals mass times velocity squared, the additional strain on processors is enormous. :p
