The Hobbit will be a Trilogy

I don't think I am going to pay to see these movies. My interest is luke-warm at best.

All of geekdom will rejoice... as I suspect DMC will as well in December...

I will definitely see the movies. I won't buy the disc though. That scam isn't working a second time. Hopefully there will be no "dark" scenes, I would love to take my oldest, she will be 5 yrs old by then. Jackson is sure to add a few of his own twists, hopefully this will be more kid friendly than the Lotr Trilogy his created. Some of the Gollum scenes were a bit creepy for my wee ones.

Well its not just the book thats being filmed. Loads of stuff from the apendecies in LOTR has also been included. Saruman and Radagast will be in it quite abit. 3 movies is fine by me. The more middle-earth, the better.

Jackson already proved that he knows how to do Tolkien for the big screen properly.
I see no reason to think he will be less successful this time'round!

I am sure that once this is out and after a while they will be doing an ultimate set with all 6 movies being extended versions so I will proably wait for that to come out before I purchase these 3 on disc.

They won't release all 6 until the next round of new technology comes out and Blu-Ray is obsolete to maximize profit for all parties.

From what I have read we seem to be getting away from discs and going to flash storage and using the cloud more. but the next disc format maybe holodiscs from what I have read unless I am mistaken with that.

I wish everything was delivered on flash drives ... the notion of a spinning disc with associated unnecessarily moving parts seems a bit archaic in today's day and age.

Sure, an extra movie means more revenue potential. At the same time, if the movies are done to the quality of the LotR trilogy, it also means more great movie footage to salivate over and enjoy.

I'm definitely in for theatre tickets for all 3 of these movies for myself and any family members who care to join me. If they're really good I'll pick up the blurays as well. If they're really great, I'll pick up the extended blurays, assuming they decide to produce those again. If so, they'll look nice next to my extended DVD collection of LotR. Now, if someone like Michael Bay was made director of these movies, then it would be a different story. I'd just read the book again.

I can't imagine feeling slighted over getting more of The Hobbit -- that is, not any more than I would feel slighted by getting a great CRPG, and 2 great expansions for that CRPG (if only game developers still cared to create great CRPGs). Yeah, I pay more, but I also get more. Fair trade.

I told the wife to have the kids get me tickets for my b-day, which was earlier this month. I haven't rec'd a gift from the kids as of yet, so I think Big Daddy Blades will be getting what he wished for!

I also get remined every 1st of the month to change my calender by a particular co-worker. So he can the next Fighter Jet/Bomber in the calender. This month it's the Boeing AV-8B Harrier II Plus.
