Do i need to kill kerish in chapter 5?

I'm in Chapter 5 and I've freed the slaves, killed joril and gotten the 2nd badge, and done a couple other things. So do i need to go back and kill kerish does he drop a badge?
Also I heard something about the main slave leader called Vera do i need to go see her? I can get to chapter 6 i just want to make sure i have done everything first.

Yes you should probably talk to Vera (or whatever her name is) since she gives you pretty good XP. This will give you the chance to kick some Salamander tail and get some new gear.
