I've been playing through the game for a while, and i was wondering what everyone thinks is better(stronger) on 1, 5, 10, 15, 17, and 20th and easier to play between the fighter classes- paladin, ranger, fighter, and barb. I thought about including monks but decieded their way to boring and over powered

Unfortunately, there is no real straight answer to that one, they all have their strengths and weaknesses.
Rangers are my personal favourite. Their high dexterity makes for effective ranged attacks and their ability to dual wield makes up for what they lack in strength. The downside is that they can only wear light armour, so they get hit more often. Animal companions and animal empathy can also provide some nice allies at lower levels. Paladins are probably my next favourite. They get to wear heavy armour and add their charisma bonus to their savings throws, so these guys can take a pounding like nobody's business. The only trouble with pallys is that you have to spread the attribute points very thinly - the need charisma above all else, wisdom for their spells, strength to smite evil, and constitution, well, who doesn't need that? Fighters can take one hell of a beating and can equally dish one out. The problem is that their low dexterity and wisdom scores mean they fail a lot of savings throws. Also, their complete lack of skills beyond hacking and slashing make them really boring to play IMHO. I have never played a barbarian, again because they strike me as simple thugs. No comment. As for monks, I can't wait to try out a monk/shadowdancer. |
