How can there be good and evil? Whats is the absolute good? Nietche made the point of how in ancient times, dictators amassed their power and ruled absolutely, enforcing their rule with might. The individual peasants were taken by their fuedal lord, and in return for their absolute loyalty, the lord used his might to protect them. To the peasants, he was thus 'good'. However, then came more free thinkers who said that the lord had too much power and ruled too absolutely, and the people should have say in their rulers, and they overthrew the lords who were now 'evil'. Most, if not all of reality is in the eye of the beholder. Do people we call evil see themselves so? I doubt it, or if they do, feel it is the correct way to be, and that 'good' is wrong. Who are we to set such an absolute judgement? In such judgement comes power, and a great deal of it, and as the saying goes power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. In that power, do we not become as bad or worse that the one we deem 'evil'. In exectuing a killer, do we not kill as well? Furthermore, it is a passionless, steril killing, evoking no emotion in the ones who commit it. They claim the execution is for the betterment of the rest of the community, and they will execute as many people as necessary until the community is as they see 'proper'. If this was done without the government's blessing, would they not be deemed 'passionless serial killers'?

Okay, first of all, that last post would be much easier to read if it wasn't a solid block of text.

Feudal Lords were hated by the peasants because he often took almost everything they owned, and gave very little in return. If you were born a peasant, you faced long, long days of backbreaking work, barely enough food to keep you alive, and virtually no chance to get out of it or change things (and elevate your self). Do you really think anyone could look at a ruler like this as "good", and one of the rabble just jumped up one day and said "Guys, this is wrong. We need to elect our own rulers". Rebellion is a stew that must simmer under the yoke of oppression first...

Do "evil" people see themselves so? Ask Adolf Hitler. He butchered 6 million Jews in an insane attempt to create the perfect world. No matter what point of view you take, It's difficult to argue that he wasn't evil. And most racists would do the same thing given the opportunity. Yet I belive that, some of those people, if they could somehow see the carnage before they committed it, would not do it. So, even though they believe in an evil thing, they themselves may not be evil, just misguided. Did all the Germans share Aldolf's view? No, but the ones that didn't suffered the same fate if they spoke out against it. They would come to your house in the middle of the night and take you away, never to be heard from again. Therefore they kept their mouths shut. So I have to believe that few of his countrymen thought of him as a "good" ruler, they were scared ******** of him.

Power corrupts the weak, yes, but there have been strong rulers as well. Just look at any number of past American or British rulers, JFK, Winston Churchill, dowzens more. Power does not always corrupt.

My opinion on executing killers is that it is not to provide a deterrent to others who would do the same, but simply the authorities saying "We feel this person can not be rehabilitated. They will never be able to be release into society without killing again. Therefore, we must take their life"
Well, they sure as hell ain't going to do anything to earn the cost of keeping them in food, clothing, and medical care for the rest of their sad, useless lives.

If you have so little respect for life that you feel you can take others lives, you don't deserve to live. Period.
The whole argument over whether we have the right to execute killers is just ridiculous, IMHO.

Feudal lords were cruel chickenshi**! There was no real reason for them to rule, other than that they were lucky enough to be so powerful, they might have been weaker, stupider, than anyone else, yet they had power, so they ruled. What do you expect, the feudal government was a simple hierarchy, as Laurence J. Peter once wrote, "In a hierarchy each person grows to their own level of incompetence." So it was with the feudal lords, they thought their power could not be matched, but there was rebellion, something no one man, with all the power in the world could calm.

As for the biggest @ss in history, Hitler, How can there be an argument as to whether he was evil or not? He went down as one of the biggest mass murderers in history! And when he was about to be caught he put cyanide pills down his childrens' and his wife's throught, then killed himself!

Murderes who have no regard for human life should be killed. By killing one, you save and avenge the lives of many. But remember that there is a very thin line between administering the law, and becoming a killer.

And do you like that hooligan_inc? I hope not, because its a horrible government, its a loose hierarchy consisting of layers, each with higher power than the other! Its like a tower of loosely connected bricks, take the lowest one out and the whole thing crumbles. In this case the lowly peasents, or townsfolk, they get pissed off and cause a rebellion and BOOM! down goes the government, and how couldn't they get pissed off with such a buulsh** government? In other words, you could start a riot and topple the government! The power of the people is the strongest of all, one that royalty can't control. So this is the reason that the feudal government is shi**, this is why it will never work! Only a couple forms of government such as communism and despotism are worse.
