your supposed "best mate" went out with the girl/boy you had been fancying for ages just to get at you? What would you actually do?

Lets give this a bit more background...Your best mate swears that they would never let the girl/boy you have been fancying get between your friendship yet after a while, you notice that they start flirting constantly with the girl/boy you fancy. Before long they go out and from accurate and reliable sources you find out that your best mate is doing this just to get at you and possibly revenge...

What would you do and how would you react to this? And if you can, please add alittle detail...

Personally, i will probably return the 'good deed' my "best mate" has done for me except i probably would make it physical...

How would I react? I would confront said person, let them know that I think they are twisted, low and pathetic, let the boy (girl in your case) know that the friend is using him/her...get drunk and pull! (this last bit is down to personal taste)
I'm sure you have proper friends to fall back on, have a night in/out and remember that you are better than your so-called-buddy!

Well if you have been fancying this girl for ages and you're still not together, then I doubt you ever will be. So I'd probably just let it go. Though I'm sure the frienship would never be the same. And incidently, just for the record, noone should ever trust "reliable" sources. I'd ask the guy about it at least, but I'd still probably just let it go.

Sounds like a bastard, alright. The best thing would be to get on with one's life and forget "socalled friends"...

What you need to determine is if he's doing it to spite you. Then he is a dog. The thing is, sometimes its easy to let emotions colour our perception.

What I can't understand is, how can your best friend even think of doing that? Perhaps it is time to look for a new best friend.

How i know?
Well i have a good friend who is also mates with him. So he goes and asks why in the world he would want to go out with her and he says "Well, i'm doing this to get back at Taf cos he stitched the group and went off with [other friend] and became a greebo"

Now, he is a dick and he's gonna get himself kicked in tomorrow likely.

2nd, i did not stitch the group that i usually hang with, its just that i'm in a band and i need to practice so i cant always be with the group.

3rd, i have not followed in the footsteps of my [other friend] into becoming a greebo. In fact none of us are greebos, my views on this greebo thing has changed alot since i last spoke about this and we're classed as greebos by him just because we listen to stuff like Blink 182, The Offspring, Iron Maiden, Wheatus, AC/DC, Manic Street Preachers, Feeder etc.

And to be honest my patience for him (which has been a year or so) has just about withered and died, so if he does try to show me up or try to piss me off with his flirting then he will get his head kicked in.

I'm afraid i cant flirt with the girl as our friendship is recovering from a 'problem' we had afew weeks ago.

Sounds like you aren't taking the bull by the horns Sniper. It also sounds like you want everyone here to be on your side and tell you to go beat up on your friend. Beating up someone might make you feel good for exactly 2 minutes and what have you gained? You will have lost your supposed "best mate" and if the girl is anything to write home about she won't have anything to do with you either.
If you've liked this girl for a long time then why hasn't anything happened between the two of you? Granted you might be a shy fellow and a slow operator, but judging by your posts that doesn't seem to be the case.
Let me get this right - your friend thinks you're a greebo so now he's trying to spite you. What sort of prejudicial crap is that? What does he care what sort of music you listen to? Sounds like a shallow friend if he judges you that easily, and you're being shallow yourself for going along with it.
The choice is simple - kick his ass and be a hero in your own mind or suck it up and get on with life. I think I read somewhere that you were 18 or something, time to start acting like it.

No.1) I am not asking everyone to side me, i'm asking everyone's opinion on how they would approach this issue.

No.2) This girl is my ex and i just cant go up to her and say "will you go back out with me?" it takes time to develop what was lost in a matter of moments.

No.3) In this day and age, most teenagers in my school have a thing against greebos. And lets put it this way. Everybody that USED to be close to him has all agreed he has become more aggressive, possesive, obsessive, childish, greedy, selfish, thoughtless, annoying and a "MR. I can get anygirl wanna be" Therefore he has lost his close friends because of that and these traits is probably why he has taken drastic measures against me.

No.4)I am be nature rather shy but, he has been hammering my weakness at me for a time and i can not take it anymore. My patience has dissapated and it was only going to be a matter of time before i respond in another way to him. And frankly, he's been asking for it...

No.5) I am 16 and not 18. So please, do not expect me to handle every situation like a 25 year old.

No.6) A greebo is ... i'm not really sure...but everyone's (townee's) defination is a person who listens to punk rock, heavy metal...wears hoodies with band names on them, associate themselves with death, put on the black nail varnesh and lipstick, and also have spiked up hair...as in really spiked up.

All i like doing is going out with black clothes and listen to punk rock.

Truthfully, I had a crush on a classmate of mine in High School. She was gorgeous and smart and athletic and...had all the right proportions.

Anywho, as it turned out, she just wanted to be my friend and nothing more. Now that I'm in college, we still keep in touch, but I realized that there are so many more females to pick from.

Don't plan your life around one person unless you feel really sure about your situation. (i.e. FatEgg)
