| Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal For posts concerning Baldur's Gate 2 with the Throne of Bhaal expansion installed. (Check out our BG2 Online Walkthrough). Please post here even if you are playing only the SoA part of the game, but have ToB installed. NOTE: If you have installed the BG1Tutu or BG Trilogy mods, or intend to play with them installed, you should be posting in this forum! |

Recent threads (okay, just one.. namely Harbourboy's ongoing first-play thread) have inspired me to reinstall Baldur's Gate 2 for a clean, modless game. I'd like to add ToB to the fun, but there's been a problem the last few times I've tried to install ToB.
Near the end of the installation, it'll ask for "disk0 that contains the file data5.cab" This wouldn't be so bad if it didn't make me reinstall SoA whenever it happens, heh. Has anyone else experienced this particular problem? I'm open to any suggestions.. having just finished installing SoA, I'm a bit reluctant to give the ToB disk a go for fear of having to reinstall. Many thanks in advance for all suggestions! Edit: Well, I went ahead and installed the SoA patch; I've decided that i don't really need ToB I'd still be very interested to hear if I'm alone with this issue or not, however.[ January 28, 2005, 04:23: Message edited by: Jhonka ] |

Glad to have been an inspiration. Oh, and no, I've never had that issue.

I've had it once with the 5-disc version of BG1, when trying to insall TotSC - but simply reinstalling everything from scratch resolved the problem... so I can't be much help I'm afraid.

I had the same as Ziad, but that only happened if I swapped CD drives during installation, which wouldn't be an issue with TOB.
Apparently this error occurs if the install can't locate the actual .cab file it wants, which is usually a symptom of read problems (disk scratches, etc). Quote:

Thanks for the info, Sparhawk!
Perhaps I'll try burning a copy of the ToB CD.. it does have some scratches on it that might impair proper reading. @nightwood: the problem has happened with both full and recommended installs of SoA, so I don't suppose that had anything to do with it. Thanks for the suggestion, though
