What should first-time players install?

I only recently got around to actually playing BGII, and I just realized that I never installed Throne of Bhaal. Nor the "bonus CD" stuff. The installer never prompted me, and at the time I got distracted by a phone call and didn't realize it. I currently don't have ANY mods/patches installed.

Are there any critical patches I should install if what I'm playing is straight from the collector's edition cds? If so, will I have to restart my game? I'm barley out of Iccarus's dungeon and am still exploring the town, so restarting won't be as big a problem.

ALso, should I install Throne of Bhall now, or wait until after I've beaten Shadows of Amm the first time? I do intend to play it, just not until after I've beaten SoA first.

It's better to have TOB installed from the start.
You might need the TOB patch too.

Yes, make sure to patch your game!

Also get the Baldurdash fixpack seing as it corrects a lot of bugs in the game... it's pretty much considered obligatory by most gamers.
