Priest stronghold quest

Hi, I'm playing with my F/M/T CG char, and just entered the Temple district. There I was met by the followers of the Eye. Then a priest from the temple of Helm approached me and not - as I expected - a guy from the temple of Lathander. Why is that?

Because you aren't a cleric.

No, really. If you're a cleric of any kind, the appropriate person from your alignment temple will ask you to take this quest. Though I didn't have it happen with my F/C, but that's another story.

And here I thought it had to do with only alignment and not wether being a cleric or not. Thanks Kuemper

Clerics are approached by the Temple that corresponds to their alignment, since they are then give the chance to join that Temple. Non-clerics are always approached by the temple of Helm, for some reason, regardless of alignment.

And thus non-cleric people will not get Cleric strongholds.

Though I had a mod which allowed for all strongholds, my Neutral Good DS was approached by Helm priest and upon completing the quest I was given Helm stronghold even I was good. Weird?

Ofcourse I am just botching it and my superiour priest is not satisfied with my decisions. Sorry but there is no way I can follow the path of cold and emotionless Helm who...slaughterd lovely Mystra, the 'daughter' of Selune and Shar. (read Sisters of Light and Darkness in-game book for more info)

Looks like I will lose the stronghold soon. BLEAH who wanted 'Helm' stronghold anyway?

If you have the mod which allows you to get all the quests, which one will approach you? Does it depend on your alignment, or will Helm always approach?

When I played with a good cleric I got Lathander stronghold which is good, but now my Druidic Sorcerer who is also Neutral good gets Helm Stronghold so I guess all classes except priests get a fixed Helm stronghold.

Well... It's not really a helm stronghold. You can't have the priest stronghold if you're not a priest. This only works if you have the one mod for it. Otherwise you get chosen by one of the three temples for the eye cult and Sir Charles quests based on your alignment.

As a nuetral character I get helm to have me do the quest, but as good or evil I get Lathander or Talos respectively.

You say that if you are good but non-cleric, do Lathander priest give you the mission? I didn't think so, Lathander and Talos only involve if you are a priest with good or evil alignment respectively. For non-priests, Helm gives the quest.

I just played through as a berserker dual cleric, and I had already accepted the fighter stronghold, and so I was approached by Lathander.

It may be the fact I was still a cleric, but they wouldn't give me the stronghold, just the quests to eliminate the eye cult and get the artist.

Okay, look at it this way. If you're not a mage, you can still do the Planar Sphere, right? And if you're not a fighter, you can still do de'Arnise Hold. And if you're not a thief, you can still beat the **** out of Mae'var on Renal's behalf. And...you get the point.

The cleric quests are no different, but they had to pick someone to get you started. Maybe they could have had someone from the Order come and ask you, but that might've peeved the players RPing evil. So they went the neutral route, with Helm. It is NOT a stronghold, just a quest. The fact that you need to do it to get the cleric stronghold does not make it a stronghold-only quest.

I know it's not a stronghold only quest - that's not what I've been saying in the least. What I've been saying is that it seems to me to still be an alignment based quest. Though it could just be the fact that I am a cleric, despite already having the fighter stronghold.

(Not new bud, been here for 3 years).

It's alright; I probably would have assumed the same thing you did.

And for future reference, you couldn't get the cleric stronghold because you'd already accepted the fighter stronghold. Next time, beg off until you grab the cleric stronghold, and then go back to Nalia and accept; you can get both this way. Nalia's the only one who doesn't check to see if you already have a stronghold, but she will set the variable if you accept. The clerics would have noticed that and thus not offered.

Well from what I've heard on the message board that you have to Start Nalia's quest then grab the other Stronghold so does she just make her check at this earlier point somewhere of starting it? Or was that jsut incorrect?

What you're probably referring to is the check on all the others. I've heard you can get as many strongholds as you can if you delay acceptance until the last one is offered, but Nalia is a special case. She'll offer no matter what (so long as you're a fighter) because she doesn't check to see if you already have a stronghold. The others do, so you'd have to fake them out.

Thats patched with Baldurdash Feli. So if any of you guys have installed the latest Baldurdash patch mod, don't bother trying that.

That does not work either, nor does having Nalia in your party. So either bug-fixes or two Stronghold.
Or use SK.
