Nether Scroll

-Does the Nether Scroll exist as an item?
-How long does Edwin need to "translate" the scroll? Is REAL time playing required or can I rest several times until Edwin is done with it?
-Here I have to mention that I have kicked Edwin out of my party once for a couple of minutes.Is this going to affect the studying of the Nether Scroll?

No it doesn't. Edwin just says that he has it after you kill the lich and stuff. IIRC you have to choose the dialogue option that says something like "I'm sure you're going to use the scroll to help the party" because if you choose the option that says that the scroll is "party treasure" the quest wont continue.

As for your questions about time and kicking edwin out, i have no idea. it takes a pretty long time though before he translates the scroll. i think it's in-game time though.

I think it takes around 20 in game days for him to translate the scroll.

I don't think kicking him out would stop the quest, but there is always a possibility of it, I'm not sure if the game presumed you kept Edwin the whole time or if it made the quest stop. I don't think it will stop though.

WTF!?! 20 days ingame?
I will be in Chapter 7 by that time. Looks like I will have to SK his timer.
Anyone know what it is?

Well, you could just look through all of Edwin's Global stats in SK for something along the lines of "EdwinNetherScroll" or something similar, or you could look through his dialog files for the block of dialog where he says he has the scroll. That way, you should find a line that starts that global timer.

-OR-

You could ask me to look for you, in which case, I'd tell you that in a line of dialog named "EdwinJ" I found this:

SetGlobalTimer("EdwinScroll","GLOBAL",TWO_DAYS)

So there you go. Two days is all it takes for him to....translate it.

Since you kicked the poor guy out of your party, I'd first check on SK to see wether or not the globals: "FoundScroll" and "ScrollStudy" are set to "1". You can do that by typing:
SetGlobal("FoundScroll","LOCALS",1)
SetGlobal("ScrollStudy","LOCALS",1)
