So, it seems many die hard BG and IWD fans (I think I'm one, but I don't count for this) think Diablo is not so good, just a "click fest". Although you can't beat the fact that the BG/IWD franchises are based on D&D rules, are the Diablo games fun? I know they look good, whats the rest of the deal. I've read the reviews and all, just wondering if I should pick up a used copy on the cheap?

If it is cheap, I mean really cheap, then get it. At least it has some fancy movies...

Its pretty damn good really. The magic user suffers though as the magic is a bit crap in diablo but anyway i enjoyed it.
The game is a bit clicky but who cares. Its very good for releasing stress.

And the movies are worth buying the game on their own. They brought tears of joy to my eyes when i watched them. Why are there not good movies in bg?

its an ok game, but once you get to the high leves (3/4 of whats possible) there is really no challenge in the game (depends on class I think, but I haven't seen much challenge since)

but since it takes a loooooong time to get to those levels, it has ok playability. Though it is hack-n'-slash, not much more.

The game looks good, but after I played it a while I made a totally new word that says much about the game: the RSI-game.

Diablo 1 has a much cooler storyline than Diablo 2. Diablo 2 is too much killing, but a great game for short periods of having nothing else to do. Plus it is much easier and cooler to play Diablo on LAN than any of the D&D games because of that you are no that hanged up in the storyline.

Diablo is for those who prefer less thinking in their roleplaying games. I did enjoy it (mostly because of the skill system... I liked designing different chars) but the mindless level/item chasing gets to me after awhile.

I like playing D2 hard core. If your character dies in the there is no way to get him back without cheating. It gives the game that little extra. In combat you can't just run into everybody swinging your greataxe of carnage, you have to be a little careful or smart. Played hard core with a paladin and that was a lot more fun, he died at level 19....

D2 rocks! I donīt care if it was just a hackīnīslash game! It was funny while it lasted. But I also think that D1 had a better storyline...

Avooch, in Diablo 1 the sorcerer only "suffered" at the start. Once you've found enough books he's pretty much unstoppable.

I found Diablo 1 heaps of fun.
Diablo 2 had better graphics, gameplay etc..
but i still liked diablo 1 better.
Diablo games are worth getting if they are cheap but if they arent just wait till a better rpg game comes out.

Actually, those dern triple immunes in the lowest levels presented some problems for sorcs. Nothing you couldn't eventually overcome, but very difficult nevertheless.
