I have not met him, and now he is killed. Do I really need to meet him for him telling me to go down in the sewer?

probably not since he is gone when you come back and you can report your progress

You missed a quest (2000 XP, 1000 gold) and the XP+Equimpment of an Ogre-Mage.. that's all.

When I see Scar for the first time, he asks me if I have found out anything? I can choose to say no and wait, or no and something more which makes him tell me to talk to him outside (where he never seems to be

I am beggining to think that there is a bug with Scar. He told me to find the menace in the sewers and i killed everything there. The ogre mage, the sewer king everything. Yet when i went to talk to him my only option was no sorry haven't found the problem yet!

didn't you had to bring back a body and a ring as a prove that the ogre-mage is death?

To my knowage you need the ring but you may have a bug
