I'm always curious, though as to why people choose to hide their birthdays; I've got no problem about declaring my age, and can't imagine that changing even as I get older. What reason do others have for keeping shtum, I wonder?

@Magpie: Age, location, gender. Some people think the sky's going to fall on their heads if anyone on the internet finds out at least one of those. If I am concerned, everyone's free to do a thorough googling of my nickname, real name, whatever it takes. BTW, 22 years for me (1983 must have been a fertile year), now what the joke didn't work, anyway.

It seems to me we just had one of these age things not long ago but maybe it just feels like not long ago in comparison to all my years.
