Starting Viconia's Romance

I'm on about day 12 or 13 of having her in the party and she's had pleanty of dialogue with Korgan and Edwin and I haven't had one dialogue with her. Edwin's starting to get more action than I am.

What's wrong?

It's possible you're not a match for Viconia. What race is your PC? Viconia will only romance humans and half-elves. If you have installed either Baldurdash or the SP Fixpack then Viconia will also romance half-orcs.

if you are an Elf, Gnome Dwarf or Halfling ... you are pure out of luck. Racist *****.

Not sure if it holds true for Half-Elves too.

*Groans* well that explains it. I'm an elf. Now I'll have to start all over again. well at least I know now...

I don't suppose there's a way to change my race...

*sigh*

Or is there a way I could cheat? set some kind of status variable?

If CamDawgs suggestion doesn´t work, you could use SK to change your race.

I don't think that will help since your compatibility for romances is checked at the start of the game only IIRC. That means that you can only change the result (the variable), but changing your race afterwards won't help.

You´re probalby correct. Or atleast when the NPC joins your party.
Seems like I haven´t played BG2 enough lately...

Just like gender, Race is fixed by what you are at the start of the game.

It'll be a lot easier than starting fresh since I'd already done a load of quests before I noticed. Stupid Niskers...
