There's a new developer diary entry by Pete MacDonald at Dungeons & Dragons Online official site. Here's an excerpt:

I’ve been thinking about comedy in games. Our first product, Asheron’s Call, is a funny game. It’s chock-full of pop culture references and tongue-in-cheek visual jokes: one of the deadliest monsters in the game is a white bunny (inspired by Monty Python’s Quest for the Holy Grail, of course). Players can get t-shirts that say “My patron went to Aerlinth and all I got was this lousy t-shirt.” Characters can wear bunny slippers, there are Planet of the Apes quests, etc.

When you first install Asheron’s Call, you have very little idea that this is the sort of material you are going to find in the sword and sorcery game. I think for some people the first time they see this sort of joke can be very immersion breaking. Imagine if at the end of the movie “The 13th Warrior,” the heroes sneak into the lair of the enemy only to find that the boss monster is … a white bunny. A few people in the audience would hoot with delight, but many more would feel ripped off.
