Latest Poll Results - Wide or Regular Monitor?

What we asked:

Q: Do you play computer games using a wide or regular monitor?
(413 votes total)

Regular (207) 50%
Wide (168) 41%
I don't use a monitor (21) 5%
Either, depending on the game (17) 4%

Exactly half of those who voted in the poll (50%) use a regular-sized monitor, followed by a considerable percentage (41%) of those who already use wide monitors to play computer games.

5% of the poll participants don't use monitors to play computer games, preferring projectors, TVs and the like to do the job of monitors.

Only 4% of those who have voted adjust the display used depending on the game (which very likely means that not many of our visitors use two or more monitors with their gaming rig).

I was wondering what "I don't use a monitor" referred to. I didn't think of TVs or projectors, and assumed people played the game without seeing what they were doing. Possibly to add some challenge...

In hindsight it'd have been better if I'd specified it there, as there are probably a few "banana" votes in that 5% now...

How do you use a banana as a monitor? I know how to defend myself from someone wielding a banana, but for viewing?

Not used as a monitor, but as a poll option, e.g. Yes / No / Banana.

A nonsensical poll option that has nothing to do with the question asked and is merely there so that the kiddies have something silly to vote for. Needless to say, I never include options like that in polls on SP, but they're common on more "casual" sites.

Ah ok. I've seen such options on other polls and agree they deter from the poll's seriousness. If I find the banana option really humourous I'm sometimes tempted to go for it instead. Guess that makes me a kiddie

I've had a closer look at the poll and realised the number who use widescreen monitors is actually very high, come to think of it, probably due to the fact most LCDs are now widescreen (and the widescreen ones are cheaper in many countries). Also there are no widescreen CRTs that I know of, so most people use LCD screens for their gaming.
