IMG Tags Enabled Board-wide

    [​IMG] The day has finally come when we open the floodgates and allow images be displayed in posts board-wide. In the past, we haven't allowed this for several reasons; because of the clutter it would have made, long post loading times for those on dial-up (minority today), because there wasn't much need for it, etc.

    But the primary reason was that on the old boards, the displaying of images wasn't customizable in any way. On the current boards, there isn't much more control by default, but it is doable with certain addons which I'll likely be installing in the near future. For now, those of you who don't want to see any images inside posts can simply disable the showing of images in your profile options. However, do note that besides removing most pictures from posts, this will also break the displaying of any signatures that have pictures in them.

    Now let's get to the business at hand - how to put images into your posts. First I need to explain that we're not currently giving you the ability to upload images straight into posts, but rather only the ability to have pictures at a certain URL display inside posts via the use of IMG tags.

    Using this in practice is very simple - all you need is the URL of the picture you want to display in your post (e.g. http://www.sorcerers.net/forums/images/editor/insertimage.gif) and to wrap it in IMG tags. If the image you want to put into your post is only on your hard drive, simply create an album on BoM and upload it there. You can then put the URL to your image in your BoM album between the IMG tags.

    In the message editor you will now see a new image icon ([​IMG]) which you can click and simply paste the URL of the image into the prompt and hit OK. This will insert the image URL wrapped into IMG tags into your post. You can also use the IMG tags manually to achieve the same result.

    Currently there is no check in place to prevent the posting of excessively large images, so PLEASE DO NOT INSERT IMAGES LARGER THAN 1024 X 768 INTO YOUR POSTS, BUT RATHER LINK TO THEM INSTEAD.

    Feel free to use this thread to test this new feature out, but only 1 image per post per member please, so that we don't fill this thread with hundreds of images.
