[IMG]Our very own Sorcerer's Place has posted its own review of Dragon Age: Origins DLC, Darkspawn Chronicles. Here is a snippet of the review, written by yours truly:

"I’d been counting down the days until the release of BioWare’s newest DLC content, the Darkspawn Chronicles. After reading about it and having played a player’s mod of a similar nature, I was quite excited to see what BioWare had for us next. Needless to say I was a tad bit disappointed.

I’m not saying that the download content was bad, far from it, but it’s definitely not worth more than the $5 or 400 BioWare points they charged for it. You are basically getting what you paid for, which was obvious when picking up Return to Ostagar a few months ago. The game play was way too short in my opinion, only taking around 1 ½ hours to complete. There were some definite highlights as well as some down sides to the game. Just remember, though, that this is add-on content, and not a full game or expansion, so don’t expect to get a nice load of new abilities and equipment."

Please be kind, as it was my first foray into writing a game review. If you'd like to read the full article, hop on over here.

I wish I had your optimistic view of this DLC. I felt nothing short of disgusted that this had cost 1/6th of the cost of the game itself, and how pathetically little I got for said money. It took me less than an hour, and it's not like it even gives you anything interesting in the game proper to make up for its short-comings, just (from what I can tell) some shabby sword.

Kudos to you for a nicely balanced review though, and for managing to find a silver lining in this disappointment!

To be honest, while I found things about the DLC that were pretty cool, for the most part it was wasted money. The screen shots I took for the review were from my 2nd runthrough (and like a bad girl, just so I could zip through the DLC, I used cheat console codes to buff up my Vanguard so I could just get through it quick, as my 2nd runthrough was for screen shots only). Otherwise, the stupid thing doesn't have replayability which really sucks for DLC content. At least with RtO, you end up with some decent gear for Alistair or for yourself, if you play warrior class, so it does have some replayability.

Thanks for the kind words on my review! Much appreciated :)
