He was an incredibly funny actor but had a long career playing more serious parts before that. May he rest in peace.

I remember seeing him as a maniac murderer. I had only seen him in comedies before, so the scene where he strangled a woman was just hilarious.

Very few people have made so many people laugh during their career - not a bad heritage. Still, it's a shame.

He went to high school here in Edmonton, I'm told. One of our colleges named a building after the guy. I am saddened by his passing. I admired his rubber face and his willingness to go "all the way" for a joke.

I thought he was very funny, even though Mrs. Chandos has no appreciation for his movies. He will be missed nevertheless.

Mistress of Nuhn had no idea who he was. That didn't surprise me, though, since she hardly ever knows an actor's or artist's name. I must refer to songs and movies starting with "That guy from...". So when I mentioned The Naked Gun, she was all like Awww! I liked that man! Apparently she hasn't seen Airplane yet. So there's an other excuse to get my hands on that tape somehow.

I'm not a big fan of spoof, but Nielsen was an exception. Perhaps because he brings be back to my teenage years or simply because he's the perfect guy for the roles he played. His face, his voice, his timing. I bet his co-actors had a hard time staying in their role. How many takes would it have taken to get some of the funniest scenes on tape without actors laughing when they should react surprised?
