My main character is a ranger...
I am nearly finished clearing out the keep and I have read that the Keep is the fighters stronghold ... When finished I intend to go back to the governmet district to find the boy who will give me the quest for the Rangers Stronghold... What is the rangers stronghold ... is it a worth while exersise? |

The stronghold itself isn't much, but by doing the stronghold quest, you'll get some neat items. The subquests are rather cute, though I don't remember what the rewards were.
In my opinion, it's a quest worth doing even if you weren't interested in the stronghold... [This message has been edited by PowerPuff (edited September 18, 2001).] |

Ranger-Protector of Imnesvale
You will take Merella the Ranger's place as the protector of Imnesvale. I think that this is one of the most interesting strongholds, with several good quests and good reward. You don't have to go there every tenday, Delon'll tell you when you're needed. Hope that helps... |

You do get a good reward item for the ranger stronghold, actually. Plus the quests are fun and the villagers are cute. One of the better strongholds in my opinion.

But you don't get a kittie (Gwenhwyvar). You get a doggie. The moon dog figurine. Bummer..... Hey, not that I'm complaining about getting that, but.........
Question: Can Drizzt summon Gwenhwyvar in the BG games? How? |

Dagda, you're a ranger, right? This means ranger stronghold for you, not fighter stronghold.
And Tiamat, I think Drizzt summoned a panther when I played, but I don't know how. |

SPOILER ahead...
I'm not sure you actually see Drizzt summon his panther, but it's definately with him when he joins you in your assault against Bodhi later... unless someone else in his party can assume panther form. |

Doing the ranger quests will "unfall" a fallen ranger (the result of a stray fireball I think), but when they ask you to go do them quickly, make sure you go quickly, or I believe you end up getting the sack from your ranger's job. The quests do give you a nice little wedge of experience, and like has been mentioned a nice pet dog.

When you finish the keep, she initiaates dialogue with you in which she pays you and you get your xp for the quest. If your PC is a fighter, you are also given the stronghold at this point.

Just some additional info
![]() The Guenhwyvar of SoA goes fighting with 13 THACO, 2 AC, 3 attacks per round and 45HP... Cerebus, the moon dog, goes with 11 THACO, 0 AC, 1 attack per round and 54 HP, as well as cast Healing Lick, Improved Invisibility, A self-made Mirror Image, Moon Dog Howl and Moon Dog Lick... Now, compare and contrast. Hmmm... honestly, I had expected Guenhwyvar to be more powerful... maybe it's just the game... or is it??? |
