Afternoon all.
![]() I'm currently stuck waiting for Jim Butcher to write/release the next book in 'The Dresden Files'. Spoiler! Based upon the fact it takes him about a year to write them and he's just recently released the last one (as in 4th August recently ) I suspect I've got about a year to wait.Has anyone got any suggestions for similiar novels to tide me over til then? |

Give his pure fantasy stuff a shot, the Fury books which is kinda like Pokemon meets the Belgariad. Extremely formulaic but still a half entertaining read.

I ,with also beeing a big fan of the Dresden Files, feel your pain
and am equally interested in similar books.(Imho compared to the Dresden Files the Furies Series is a total snooze fest.) In general the book category is Urban Fantasy, so maybe some of the series I've read will help you out; Rachel Morgan Series ( Kim Harrison ) I found quite alright, less action more emotional turmoil. Anita Blake Series (Laurel K. Hamilton ) The first 3 novels or so are fun, but after that I found that the plot is replace "evil bad name" with "more evil bad name" in the next one... the books definitely do not get better. Mercy Thompson (Rachel Briggs) I've read some..and don't remember much (I think she has the hots for many alpha werewolves) err.. Kalix. Werewolf of London (Martin Millar) brr.. like a unfunny fantasy emo soap opera. (Yeah.. I tend to pick up "female mercenary/detective works in fantasy infested urban city" books and then be disappointed...at least in comparison to Harry Dresden ^^) But maybe some of my favorite series (authors) also help; Song of Ice and Fire (George R. R. Martin), Malazan Book of the Fallen (Steven Erikkson), Heirs of the Empire (David Webber), Culture Novels (Ian Banks), Skolian Saga (Catherine Asaro). ..Ok who else can not wait for Harry Dresdens dramatic "I am back baby" sequence.. it's gonna be soo awesome. edit: http://s1201.photobucket.com/albums/...Geekytable.jpg I now recommend the Kate Daniels series its in my upper echelon of urban-fantasy. |
