Saudi boy shoots father when he comes home without the PS3 he wanted. The boy was only 4 and half years old! Is that crazy or what?

For his own good I hope that kid never finds out what he did when he's older. Must be hard for the family, I mean obviously they'll be upset that the father is gone but to not even have anyone to really blame for it must make it that much worse.
And if they do blame the kid, he's in for an even harder life than he's got now |

Yeah, it is crazy - talk about absurd.
Actually, how does a four-year old manage to shoot a pistol - don't they have safety catches, require a stronger grip and bigger hands, and all that? I'd expect the father to have taken it out of the boy's hands and slapped him one instead. |

The kid is 4 years, 7 months old. My son is 4 years, 8 months old. And let me tell you, 3-year olds and 4-year olds can get really pissed off by things that you don't think they should get pissed off about. Also, they usually do not think of the long term ramifications of their actions (which is usually true even when they aren't pissed off, but especially not so when they are). Everyone should be extremely careful if they own a gun. That only goes up a notch if you have a child in the house - the younger they are, the more dangerous having a gun is. While it sounds like this kid deliberately shot his father, I am left to wonder if the kid really understands what death is. My son certainly know what it means for something or someone to be dead, but I don't think he applies that concept to people in the family. Like, if you find a spider in the house and you step on it, certainly the spider can be dead, but people like mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa are always going to be around. He likewise struggles with the concept of something happening before he was born. And I can't help but feel the same is true for this kid. He's eventually going to figure out what happened - even if he does not remember the actual sequence of events long term, he going to know he killed his father. He's going to be one messed up kid. |

Kids at that age don't fully understand the ramifications of their actions. The father was a tool to let his son get anywhere near the weapon.
Of course, this is all a result of American permissiveness regarding gun laws.
